AIBU public transport would be great if there were no other passengers?

Well am I?

I'm on an early morning train to London sat in the quiet coach. The train is quick, direct and whilst expensive not too bad. But the 'other passengers' I could do without.

Two women chatting very loudly about their work colleague. Women behind me eating done thing which doesn't smell too appetising. Another passenger blowing their nose on what must be the smallest piece of tissue in the world. Someone else pacing up and down reading paperwork - you've paid for a seat use it!!

So AIBU or just miserable as I'm headed for a full day at work?

There are no other passengers when you run your own car.

Just sayin'...

Get a book and an ipod and stop looking for reasons to be miserable!

I've always found the problem with public transport is that its rarely on time, not enough services at times you want them, overcrowded and totally overpriced. Other passengers are lower down on my complaint list, they can be annoying and inconsiderate, but have also met some lovely chatty people that make the journey fly by.

I either zone out everyone else or eavesdrop on interesting conversations

I quite enjoy my time on the bus

I'm on the bus now,mumsnetting

^^This...plus they never seem to go where you want.

I find all those stops that you yourself don't want to get on or off at quite annoying as well.

Ds gets a bus to school that goes from the end of our road and stops outside his schoo, but it goes on lots of snakey little detours, all for the convenience of Other People. Bah!

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 28/11/2013 08:41

Oh, yes, and it takes twice as long to get anywhere Wink

cozietoesie · 28/11/2013 08:44

I loved getting the bus to and from work when I worked outside the house. I could zone out and it gave me time to adjust - up to the working day in one direction and winding down from the working day in another direction.

I'm not sure I even noticed too many of the other passengers unless something extraordinary was happening.

NoComet · 28/11/2013 08:47

Public transport?

Oh you mean the stuff I have to get in the car to get to?

MyNameIsWinkly · 28/11/2013 08:53

Where I used to live, the other passengers were generally ok. There's something about the trainline I'm on now that apparently makes it a dickhead magnet. Last Friday, 11am, on gets a man reeking of cannabis, clearly coked off his tits, blaring shite music and blatantly eyeing up my phone. Not a recipe for a happy journey, and wasn't atypical for that route.

Pigsmummy · 28/11/2013 08:59

Currently on a packed bus in london. All good. Queued to get on but nice driver even smiled at me as boarded. You need a 3rd shredded wheat

bionic77 · 28/11/2013 18:32

Liking the idea of a chauffeur service.

I'm putting misery down to going to work for a 'keeping in touch' day taking time from my maternity leave and 6 month DS. I think I won't do many more of those!

It's not nice when it is hot and you have to stand and stinky people lol!

We took a line the other day that was so quiet it was quite nice.
