AIBU to think that I have messed this up beyond repair?

I hope you can help me because I am all over the place right now.

I am presently in the process of completing some pre-employment screening for a job.

My employers don't do the screening personally and they have hired some third party to do it. The background check agency got in touch with me around 5 days ago to give me access to an online system where I could fill in my details. Upon registering I was told that I have 10 days to complete the process during which time I could keep coming back to the form and saving information on it. It took me some time to collect all the information such as the latest contact details of a referee. There were also some unexpected questions such as the exact dates that I had graduated from my previous universities and the dates of residence at prior addresses which I really don't remember off the cuff. So it took me some time to dig into my past records and get the details they needed.

I finally had all the information together this morning and I saved it on the system. I had some errands to run and I thought I'd come back home later in the evening to print and submit the form. I wasn't in a tearing hurry because I thought I still have 5 days left.

But when I logged back in this evening, a message kept telling me the password and the link that I had used have expired Confused

I got a bit concerned and thought that maybe I fucked up somehow and so I asked some of my friends about this. They have all told me that this is basically my fault and that irrespective of the time frame specified by them, I should have submitted the forms as soon as possible. One of them has even scared me that my offer can now be withdrawn for non-compliance :( :(

I am now seriously scared and panicked!! I wanted to get this whole process over with but at the same time I didn't want to give out any incorrect details in a hurry. I was just trying to be as careful and honest as possible.

Do you think I have messed this up or is there hope? Can I possibly expect that they will send me another link or something to complete the forms again?

Of course they will. Just contact them tomorrow and explain.

Who are these 'friends' anyway? A real bunch of Job's Comforters.

LittleMissGerardPoppyButler · 27/11/2013 22:22

I can't see what you have done wrong here, and your so called friends haven't been helpful.

Do you have the contact details for the agency? I bet if you ring and explain they should give you a new password. You got the details in the time given to you originally with time to spare, there's obviously just been an error somewhere.

LittleCatZ · 27/11/2013 22:23

Brew I'm sure this happens all the time so I'd call their HR and say it has locked you out and you're keen to sort it out within the 10 days. Ask if they can get the third party to sort it out.
Secretly their HR probably hate the 3rd party system Wink and will probably sigh and say don't worry.
Recruitment is expensive and time consuming so if you're at the offer stage then you've done the hard bit because they chose you Smile

Snoopingforsoup · 27/11/2013 22:23

This happens a lot.
You'll be fine. Not everyone has all the info. to hand.
Call and explain tomorrow. Sleep easy.

Spatsky · 27/11/2013 22:23

Like cozie said, explain to,or row.

Worst case you have to start the forms again from scratch. Thes no way they will withdraw a job offer over this.

Relax

GhettoPrincess001 · 27/11/2013 22:27

Now you have assembled all the information required you can re-enter it quickly and send it all in one go this time.

As suggested, phone and explain what happened. It could be nothing more than a software glitch and they will end up apologising to you.

gimcrack · 27/11/2013 22:29

Just ring them. It's probably an IT blip.

littlewhitebag · 27/11/2013 22:31

It will be a glitch. I am sure a quick phone call will sort it out.

FudgefaceMcZ · 27/11/2013 22:32

Phone or email them. If it's the same agency that did my employment screening, it's most likely their computer systems being crap.

cozietoesie · 27/11/2013 22:38

Oh - and if you're relaxed and reasonably humourful about the SNAFU when you contact them, you're likely to be remembered kindly rather than any other way. You'll be fine.

Smile
