Does anybody have a freckle behind their eye?

Ive just been for a sight test and been told I have one, he's referred me to an eye doctor to take some pics and monitor it

He told me they're very common and not to worry but he would say that wouldn't he!

I suffer from anxiety and I'm already convinced that I'm gonna die and leave my daughter so I'm sat in my car in bits :(

Does anybody have a freckle behind their eye?
Hayels · 13/08/2015 00:55

I have one (31) and no doctor or optician has ever mentioned it (i wear glasses for watching tv and driving). Some people comment on it straight away but 2 friends who have known me for years have only just noticed! I usually get compliments on it!
My friend's dd (5) has one exactly the same and has just been signed off after having it regularly monitored from birth- I guess some docs are more vigilant these days.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 13/08/2015 01:27

I have extensive scarring to one of my corneas and I've had at least one high street optician say they couldn't see anything when they looked. The first optician to see it (post the issues that caused the scarring) was so worried they needed to do a little sketch of the scarring (there was quite a lot!) and call other people up.

My face when other optician apparently couldn't see anything --> Hmm

I have three freckles in the iris of one eye.
They appeared in my early twenties.
Try not to worry, it is highly likely that it's completely fine. If the optician thought it wasn't they'd be doing more about it.
They probably see these all the time.

I have this! I found out a year ago..but the optician said it was a birthmark...nothing at all to worry about apparently

Thankyou for all your comments it has made me feel better ????

Hi, my regular options 4 years ago took a picture of the inside of my eyes and told me everything looked great and healthy. About 2 years ago I decided to change my options and they also took pictures and noticed a freckle on the inside of my eye. I was very concerned and they told me not to worry because it's very common. I have since had 3 pictures taken over the 2 years and all is still the same. What I'm concerned about is why has it just appeared and can it become cancerous?

SingingInTheRainstorm · 31/01/2017 19:51

I know it's easier said than done, but try and avoid Dr Google, I doubt it's anything to worry about, if it was they would refer to the hospital. Def a reason to spoil yourself if it helps you calm your nerves X

SingingInTheRainstorm · 31/01/2017 19:51

Really not sure why I put a 'X' there sorry Shock

SingingInTheRainstorm · 31/01/2017 19:52

That's as bad as calling a teacher Mum Grin

Soza2017 · 31/01/2017 20:24

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I google everything, it's a terrible habit of mine and it makes me feel worse, I always like to be reassured, but it is reassuring to know that it is common and very rare to be anything else

millillith · 04/11/2019 12:47

I’ve joined mumsnet solely to reply. I had an eye freckle pointed out to me recently after changing from vision express to specsavers but they had never mentioned it to me before and it makes me worry it just appeared out of nowhere. It’s not even the fact of it being there, it’s the problem that it just got brought up. :/

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 04/11/2019 13:12

I've got one! Eye tests every year since 9 years old and they only spotted it at 25. Nothing to worry about! Smile

Igotthemheavyboobs · 04/11/2019 14:35

if it was an urgent problem you wouldn't be sitting in your car, you'd already be in hospital- try not to worry - easier said than done I know, try to distract yourself

This 100%
As someone who has been sent directly from opticians to A&E twice, if they were really concerned you would be at hospital now.
