After months of shoulder pain today I had a steroid injection. Now my head is pounding with an unbelievable headache. The doctor did it quickly and ushered me out of his room. It was not expected as I thought he would just give me more painkillers today.
Aibu that he should of mentioned possible side effects having the shot?

Prob a spasm or your doc hit a nerve as you had the injection. I've had steroid injections and have found them life changing in a good way.

I have had intravenous steroids. That did give me a pounding headache- the kind where you feel every beat of your heart and can barely hear over your own pulse. I didn't sleep a wink that night, and I also threatened to kill the woman in the bed opposite- luckily I was too doped up on morphine to actually carry out my threat! I was actually pretty scared at the intensity of my emotions.

I wasn't warned about the possibility of steroid rage or insomnia before they gave me the steroids- nor did I even get a leaflet afterwards, it was only later when I had oral steroids and read the PIL that I put 2 and 2 together.

Anyway, YANBU, you should preferably be given information before the visit, failing that they could hand over a leaflet and see another patient while you have a quick read. How can you give informed consent to a medical procedure if you haven't been informed?

IV steroids are a bit different to a local steroid injection. I'm not convinced the headache is related.

I've had a few steroid injections now. Never been informed that a headache could be a side affect, never had one after either though.
I was informed that the pain may well increase for the first 24-47 hours before kicking in.

They also warned me how much the one under the knee cap might sting - and they were right! It blooming well hurt!

ideally the dr should give the package leaflet to read before giving any medication.
so yanbu
your effect might not be related, though.
you can report any side effects to the mhra yellow card scheme

"It is possible that one of the muscles in your shoulder/neck spasmed after the shot leading to a headache."

I agree with this.
