Asking DD not to go out now to buy something

SirSugar · 25/11/2013 21:10

Shes 15, run out of sanitary towels wants to go to the shop now to buy some. shop is two blocks away, we live in south London.

I say no and have sent text message to DP to pick some up on his way home, she is arguing the toss about me being over protective.

I would take her in the car but DS aged 7 is in bed so can't leave him alone.

DD has stomped off telling me all her friends are out at all times and she is fed up with me.

Why don't you leave her to sit with 7 year old and nip out in the car for them as they're not exactly a product it's always ideal to wait for

FeckOffCup · 25/11/2013 21:45

I don't know much about London but I think 15 is old enough to go to a local shop without a lift, maybe she is embarrassed about your DP buying them for her.

gordyslovesheep · 25/11/2013 21:47

can't you go for her? although if your husband can pick them up that seems more sensible

not so much for safety as for the shear facts it's late, dark and cold

SPsWouldCatFishNev · 25/11/2013 21:48

Sure she isn't planning on meeting someone? That's the only time I ever argued with my mum.about going to shop alone at night Grin

Alanna1 · 25/11/2013 21:55

She's 15! Why can't she go and get ST?

SirSugar · 25/11/2013 21:56

I went out for them, her arguing about going out and me being overprotective annoyed me more.

I agree with others. You go to the shop, dd can look after 7yo.

cozietoesie · 25/11/2013 21:57

I won't go out walking much at night here unless I absolutely have to. Partly because it's not real safe where I am but also because at night, in winter, I can't see and avoid the dog shit which is everywhere. (Indifferent street lighting.)

Trills · 25/11/2013 21:58

You were very very probably BU, unless you live in a very dangerous area.

thebody · 25/11/2013 22:00

blimey op, my dds would have sent me. it's dark and cold.

Depends on where you live really. don't know what 2 blocks means in London? is that streets?
