Nephew is 20. Latest Facebook profile pic is him shitfaced at a party....wearing a mankini! Pic is taken from by his feet, legs akimbo iyswim!
Should I tell my rather straight-laced sis who will go nuts, or just leave it?

I'd rather not see it though as i'm sure his mum, other relatives and future employers wouldn't either so tell him to lock his page!

LeBearPolar · 24/11/2013 19:12

It's up to him what he does on his own FB page at the age of 20, I think! But plenty of employers do research potential employees social networking profiles so it's up to him what he's happy with on that front, I guess.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 24/11/2013 19:14

huh my DS has a pic of him naked apart from a hat and an elephant jockstrap. Shock I have explained it is out there for all to see... including his mum and auntie, does he care? nope.

Feminine · 24/11/2013 19:15

I don't know what goes on with my 15 yr son's account!

haven't since he was 13!

If he wants to arse things up, on his head be it!

The guy in question is TWENTY! Oh Lordy lordy! Grin

Feminine · 24/11/2013 19:16

I don't get this prospective employer bit? most pages are or should be on private.

picnicbasketcase · 24/11/2013 19:17

I would probably say 'that pic of X on fb is funny' and leave it there. You've mentioned it, and if she then wants to look and tell him off, so be it.

TheGreatWizardQuiQuaeQuod · 24/11/2013 19:19

The whole future employer thing is going to become less relevent. In a few years time there won't be a 20 something out there who hasn't put several wildly inappropriate things on facebook and I expect that employers will begin to see that people can be both a teenage / young adult idiot and a responsible employee in their 20s or 30s.

Dear god, if there'd been facebook when I was a young and stupid kid, I'd be on some sort of government watch list right now Grin

SatinSandals · 24/11/2013 19:19

I don't get the future employers either-surely he isn't stupid enough to have it public? I would ignore.

WhoNickedMyName · 24/11/2013 19:20

Use the picture to send a personalised Moonpig card to your sister.Grin

TheGreatWizardQuiQuaeQuod · 24/11/2013 19:20

and then become, that probably ought to read. I'm not saying they are both at once, just that one becomes the other. Grin

usualsuspect · 24/11/2013 19:21

He's 20.

MYOB.

nothruroad · 24/11/2013 19:24

Can't everyone see your profile picture even if your account is private? I know several people where I can't see anything except their profile picture - I assume this is because I am not their friend and the rest is private.

My nephew's on FB Ive seen a couple of pics & comments on his page that make me raise eyebrows..but he's 22 fgs and Im not his appointed life monitor, ready to report him to mummy & daddy either. Leave your nephew alone. & there's no need to nose on his FB page either ticking off your 'points of disapproval'. Just stop.

VonHerrBurton · 25/11/2013 00:51

What sort of uptight employer would be clutching their pearls at that though, really.

He's not breaking the law, jeez... Don't look anymore if you find it offensive.

Btw i don't have fb so don't know how it works, can't you 'block' people?

BrianTheMole · 25/11/2013 00:52

I would tell him to sort out his fb settings! But apart from that, I'd do nothing.

Squidwardtenticles · 25/11/2013 00:53

If a 20 year old wasn't putting up pictures like this then i WOULD be concerned.
Personally i think you should put a link of his profile up on here so we can judge for ourselves...

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 25/11/2013 00:54

Why would you tell anyone? He's an adult Confused cant believe someone would go tell his mummy on him for a drunken fb photo of a 20 year old!

Monty27 · 25/11/2013 00:56

Leave it.

TheZeeTeam · 25/11/2013 00:58

This thread is so funny.
Of course you should report it to your sister but only so you can come back and tell us how upset you are they told you to p* off!!!

Any future employers would be doing well to find my fb page as it's a name i use only for fb specifically to stop people who dont know the secret name (ie friends) from searching me. It's my name but a translation that is very rare.
