I Went to get a coffee earlier in Waitrose as a freebie.Put my cup under the thingy pressed "go" on the coffee machine and then just stepped away for a slight nano second. Then on my return to the spot which was just 2 foot away .A lady who watched it finish filling up with me who had muscled in to the filling area said to me ."Is that yours"? (I thought why don't you do one you simpleton it's obvious it's mine and she knew it was .I didn't like her interfering, stupid auroa/attitude) so i said "Well, who do you think it belongs to"? She said to me do I have to be so unpleasant I said "Did she have to be so unpleasant standing in my way to access my coffee which was obviously mine and i thought did she have to ask me such an inane question that she already knew the answer to.I took my coffee and said "Thank you and good evening"
Your views please?TYIA

Do Waitrose do freebie coffees? They don't do that in Sainsburys Envy

Pinkpinot · 23/11/2013 21:44

How do you get a freebie?

tudorqueen · 23/11/2013 21:44

YABU for getting your coffee from a machine. It's shite. As WooWoo said - go to the counter.

Sparklingbrook · 23/11/2013 21:45

I think you need a myWaitrose card. And a Waitrose with a cafe. Grin

ShakeRattleNRoll · 23/11/2013 21:47

This scenario is a bit like is your cup half empty or is it half full

What an unpleasant reply, glad the woman was brave enough to tell you how arsy you had been.

ShylaMcCall · 23/11/2013 22:02

I would also like to know how to get an completely free coffee from Waitrose. There was a jacket I needed to buy and now I'm skint.

londonrach · 23/11/2013 22:07

I. Love the fact you can get a sat or sun paper free

.

tudorqueen · 23/11/2013 22:08

Where do you get the card from though? The store? Or order online?

ShylaMcCall · 23/11/2013 22:10

Oh and I wandered off and x-posted. Thanks OP.

ShakeRattleNRoll · 23/11/2013 22:22

ShakeRattleNRoll · 23/11/2013 22:23

tudor just pop in and talk to customer services about your waitrose card

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 24/11/2013 09:05

Yes, that was really rude and grumpy OP!

Our waitrose doesn't have a cafe but the nice lady behind the cake counter is also 'coffee lady' you just have to ask.

usualsuspect · 24/11/2013 09:11

You are very odd.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 24/11/2013 09:14

My "is this yours?" Is code to whichever hot builder has got to the costa express machine before me and wandered off to flick through the Sun or pay, that I'm moving their coffee out of the way to make mine and that I fancy them and that the frequency of hot builders is one of the reasons I stop there on the way to work

Maybe she fancied you...

Helpyourself · 24/11/2013 09:18

The coffees not very nice.
But it's free.
It is my dilemma ATM.

CuntyBunty · 24/11/2013 09:37

Fair play OP, you know you were being unreasonable.
You will still get a loads of dicks queuing up to tell you YABU after you have had 50ish replies and have conceded that YWBU.

I was a bit U in a queue in M and S once. It was busy and we were in an express queue. The woman behind me kept jostling me and making contact with my person (as if that is going to make the queue move any quicker). After about the fifth time I looked at her in a less than friendly manner and she said, "I'm not doing it in purpose you know!".
"Why done you back off then?" Was my reply Hmm

Tee2072 · 24/11/2013 09:40

You were unpleasant.

But you know that now.

I have no Waitrose in my Belfast, with or without a cafe.

All should pity me now.
