to wonder why I am the only one in the family who has evolved the ability to turn lights off when I leave a room?

Yes, same here
I am the only one in our family who can turn lights off
I am the only one who can turn thermostat down on a radiator if room isn't going to be used
I am only one who can change a toilet roll
I am only one who can empty a full bin rather than just balancing more rubbish on the top.

I would come home from nights to find house lit up like blackpool. Tvs still on. Fire in front room blazing away
Since they left home my bills have halved. Funnily enough when I visit them they are the worlds biggest nags about turning lights off. Amazing how paying your own bills can focus the mind

I usaed to fret about this too.

Then I read somewhere that it meant something like £28 extra for the average house on the electricity bill a year.

Announced that to everyone. We all decided that or it could have been me that decided that I wasnt going to nag all year for the sake of £28.
The relief was great.

Up to 7 empty loo rolls. I will crack soon - aiming to leave it until Thursday.

Oh no, OP, you are not alone! Drives me barmy.

The best one is when sun is blazing into our lavishly be-windowed kitchen and DSS (16) still insists on switching on all the lights in there, especially the bright ceiling spots that make the energy meter over-excited. And leaving them on.

Haha me too. Wink
