Never watched qvc before but stumbled across this while up early this morning and channel surfing, ended up watching for an hour!
Can it really do everything it says? Smoothes, ice cream, soups etc? Surely a good soup needs sweated and cooked slowly?
My fingers are itching to pick up and order one

I use mine every morning to make a smoothie, DH uses it sometimes to make smoothies but other than that it doesn't get used much. Excellent for smoothies though

noswingpark · 23/11/2013 15:48

Me too! I daren't watch (but just flicked to the shopping channels and seen its on again at 5) it looks amazing. That and the bamix wow I don't think my life will be complete until I have either (both)

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 23/11/2013 15:49

A Friend had one and swears by it. She cooks a lot and uses it every day.

MissMalteser · 23/11/2013 15:55

The blended ice cocktails and lattes are selling me :o I recorded it and am watching again!
What is this bamix you talk about noswingpark?

OP posts:
noswingpark · 23/11/2013 16:00

The bamix is a hand blender which can blend skimmed milk to the consistency of whipped double cream (according to ideal world). Just for that reason I need one!

Sleepyhoglet · 23/11/2013 16:01

My husband was mesmerised by them but they are over £400

MissMalteser · 23/11/2013 16:05

£380 on qvc today sleepyhoglet! (I understand this is still a lot)
Really noswingpark? God im not usually one for getting caught up and impulse buying but I think im gonna have to step away from the qvc channel!

noswingpark · 23/11/2013 16:06

Sleepy my husband was the same, he is banned from watching said shopping channels after buying a tefal actifry which he only ever uses to cook sausages.

noswingpark · 23/11/2013 16:07

I've set a reminder for 5, are they on flexi pay?

MissMalteser · 23/11/2013 16:10

Does that mean you can spread it over 3 payments? If so then yes :) also has an actifry

I really should turn the tv off (and get a life)

Mumrose · 23/11/2013 16:13

YANBU I love mine! Use it to make smoothies and soups regularly

MissMalteser · 23/11/2013 16:20

Mumrose are the soups really nice tho? Without being onions being sweated and everything simmered for halfhour? I wouwould be gutted if I bought it and the soups weren't nice, although qvc have that handy extended returns policy which is good... now I sound like I've been converted!

After many failed and smoking appliances, I decided the time had come to find something better. I bought a slightly cheaper Optimix 9400. It is fab!! I can crush ice, grind meat and make nut butter (not all at the same time!). My best creations are date, nut, ginger and cranberry bars, made in a minute!! I hope the £70 saving was not too much of a compromise but so far, I cannot fault it!

Almostfifty · 23/11/2013 17:18

I have one. I make smoothies in it, and sorbets. The times I've made soup haven't been that good, but it maybe that I've not done them properly.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/11/2013 17:22

They had them in Costco yesterday (I'm not sure if they were exactly the same deal ) but I'm sure they were more expensive (plus add on the VAT)

The QVC reviews are good too.

TBH I don't fancy the 'soups' like a hot smoothie IMO (barf).

I'm looking for a food-pro but not a blender

LateBear · 23/11/2013 17:58

I would love one! But I make do with a normal blender, as I've gone off smoothies since I've been pregnant and can't justify it.

Sleepyhoglet · 23/11/2013 18:11

Tempted by the special offer but still so pricey as an impulse buy

Sleepyhoglet · 23/11/2013 18:12

Also they are very big

Pufflemum · 26/11/2013 14:15

I just got one of these from Costco, cheaper than elsewhere and came with the dry and wet grinder. I just made my first soup with it for lunch. It literally took two minutes from the moment I entered the kitchen. I put hot water in the jug, a sachet of miso powder, a carrot, cabbage leaves, celery stick, some onion and chilli. Whizzed for 30 seconds and was amazed that it was hot and steaming. Tastes good and has to better than a Cup a Soup! Will test a smoothie tonight.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/11/2013 14:22

Have you lot seen will it blend?

You will want a BlendTec after watching, I warn you.

Pufflemum · 26/11/2013 14:26

Mrstp!! That is funny, I will make sure my kids don't see that one.

Breadkneadslove · 26/11/2013 20:57

www.vitality4life.co.uk/bio-chef

If you didn't buy the vitamix but are still considering... Check out the biochef blender. I wanted a vitamix but couldn't justify the price without extensive research and I'm glad a did because I discovered the biochef very similar and does essentially the same isn't quite as powerful as the vitamix but it's still a professional blender.

I love mine, it's substantially cheaper but still an kitchen investment tool. Use it for blending, smoothies, hummus, bread crumbs. I use it loads to be honest. Tried the soup but to be honest in my opinion it's just a luke warm raw smoothie. Yuck! It doesn't cook it just creates heat through friction. Also it takes so long to make scrambled eggs it's pointless when they take minutes on the hob or in the micro.

It's a great piece of kit, I use it loads but it can't do everything and they advertise that they kind of can... Still need to use my processor and kitchen aid mixer loads...

KenAdams · 26/11/2013 21:38

We had one. They said you could put frozen fruit and ice in it. Turns out you can't. It broke. Had to return it. Did to get another one as it didn't do what it said on the tin.

I have no idea why I wrote a million sentences then.
