Road rage this time of year

Please tell me what I was doing wrong. I was in one of these covered multi-storey car parks this morning and I pulled out of my parking space to leave. Before I drove to the exit signs (ramp down) I saw a car coming from the storey above also trying to get to the ramp down to the exit. I stopped and let her go first.
The fucking bitch shook her head at me! Shock
Can't see what I did wrong tbh Hmm

that is stupid behaviour, zog, and just as likely to cause a serious accident

Zarazog · 23/11/2013 22:27

only if they fail to maintain a reasonable stopping distance and so they would be liable, not me.

MistAllChuckingFrighty · 23/11/2013 22:29

and the rest of the road users ?

they don't count at all ?

take your ridiculous game playing somewhere else, I hope you don't "drive" in my neighbourhood where my kids cross the road

southeastastra · 23/11/2013 22:31

ignoge it. my bug bear is arseholes who stop at the first available space then reverse into the space (if they do it first time it's okay but most don't)

ZombieMojaveWonderer · 23/11/2013 22:34

This happens all the time where I live. People pull out in front of you and then give you the two fingered salute and it's meant to be a naice area around here Hmm

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/11/2013 22:46

Zarazog if they are driving too close to you, and you slam your brakes on, you know they don't have a safe stopping distance, so your actions are morally indefensible.

Far better to ignore them and drive safely for the road conditions and the speed limit than to risk causing an accident where other cars might be involved and other people might be hurt - and whatever you think the legalities are, you would be morally responsible.

differentnameforthis · 24/11/2013 03:25

Like when they get real close behind me and flash their lights, even though I am driving at the speed limit. I slam my brakes on, it scares the crap out of them

How irresponsible. Regardless of whose fault it would be (and I fail to how slamming your brakes on DOESN'T make it your fault), if they hit, they could be hurt, so could someone in their car, or the car behind them.

The sensible thing to do is maintain your speed safely or pull over & let them pass.

differentnameforthis · 24/11/2013 03:28

And aside from anything else, if they do hit you, do you have the time & patience to wait through an insurance claim (that is if they are actually insured, because if they aren't you just wreaked your car for no reason)?

confusedwwyd · 24/11/2013 07:28

Zarazog you do know your antics could get you or someone else killed? Stupid irresponsible childish behaviour which had no place on the roads.

confusedwwyd · 24/11/2013 07:33

And if they had a witness to say you braked suddenly and without good reason then you could be held responsible, investigated for fraud and the police also be interested in prosecuting you for careless driving if not dangerous. Good luck with your game playing as with the advent of crash for cash fraud, insurance companies don't automatically assume the vehicle behind is always at fault any more and is a pretty big gamble you're taking.

bimbabirba · 24/11/2013 08:41

Maybe I should start another thread about the fuckwits that hog the fast lane and don't let people who want to drive above the speed limit pass. The breaking on purpose is quite shocking tbh Shock
What do you care if they want to drive above the speed limit? It's none your business to police it, you should just let anyone who's clearly driving faster than you overtake you safely.

I think Christmas road rage has started. I went to get a birthday present yesterday. Horrific. I'm not going again!! If I can possibly help it.

Fakebook · 24/11/2013 11:02

Last year I was in the tesco carpark and took a shortcut to a parking space that the car infront was apparently going to aswell. I parked up and the car that was infront took the long way round and ended up parking right next to me as there was another space. The arsehole in the car started giving me glares but I couldn't understand why because he'd also got a space right next to me so it wasn't like I stole his space.

Anyway, I went into the shops and came out to find a big globule of spit running down my windscreen. The fucking dipshit had done it. I was so pissed off and used tonnes of screen wash but it was stuck for ages.

Some people are complete and utter arseholes. It's just bad luck you encounter them whilst driving.

bimbabirba · 24/11/2013 11:29

Yeah but there seem to be an awful lot about so you're bound to encounter one every time you get in the car pretty much

If you have someone right up your arse, and want to look like you're braking to scare them back off, turn your headlights on. That'll turn your rear red lights on too. Then off, then on again, until they've backed off a bit. Might confuse oncoming traffic of course - but it does work.

At night, use your rear fog lights the same way.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/11/2013 12:31

Oblomov - I think you are right - and there will be Shop Rage/Till Rage/Mall rage all out there too. Which is why I am doing as much of my christmas shopping online as is humanly possible.

Damnautocorrect · 24/11/2013 14:56

The ones that get me are the drop down 3 gears under take in a teeny gap and then slam on the brakes as the person in fronts not going any faster than they were, on the motorway.
If the gap was big enough if pull in, but the gaps not big enough and I'm over taking that car there.
