Im SHOCKED

I am quite sensitive person to drugs in any form
I got terrified when a lovely dr once prescribed me v strong medicine just a lucky I took one insted of two like she told me to

I went in to some kind of shock my body I mean
I was on the sofa having just my head rest of the body was away

But anyway like I said I am quite to sensitive

So there is a matter

Some gp s are prescribing thoes lovely medicines to alcoholics with out checking out how bad their addiction is

I do understand that that you can only relay on patients world but is not that difficult to recognise some signs of alcoholism

Dear god, did you just chuck words in a bucket, shake them up and tip them out? What ARE you on about?!

candycoatedwaterdrops · 20/11/2013 21:25

I hope you're ok, OP. Confused

tinmug · 20/11/2013 21:25

I was just worried about the consequences of mixing

Yeah it looks pretty bad.

Salmotrutta · 20/11/2013 21:27

OP - we all react to drugs differently.

That's why some people have adverse drug reactions.

Until we have all been genetically profiled to determine our likely response to new drugs, and research has shown which profiles react in specified ways, I'm afraid there will still be adverse drug reactions.

littlewhitebag · 20/11/2013 21:27

OP. You sound like you are off your face. I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you the alcoholic who has been prescribed strong painkillers? People have different tolerances. I can drink loads of alcohol and be fairly fine but I cannot tolerate opiates. Everyone is different and I assume you are not a doctor so I think you need to leave it to them to prescribe what they feel is right.

Salmotrutta · 20/11/2013 21:29

I meant to add:

Drug metabolism is genetically influenced - your genes have a major effect on your reaction to certain drugs.

toffeesponge · 20/11/2013 21:31

OP

You are not making much sense though we are reading between the lines I think. Forget the point you are trying to make for a minute. Are you under the influence of something at the moment? I notice you are answering some posters but not the ones asking this question.

killpeppa · 20/11/2013 21:34

sorry but what?!

this thread makes the least sense ever & its MN we gets some weird onesConfused

breatheslowly · 20/11/2013 21:35

I'd worry less about GPs, who are trained for this sort of stuff, and more about why you aren't communicating coherently.

mrsWast · 20/11/2013 21:38

i'm also an alcoholic in recovery. before i acknowledged my alcoholism there was nothing a doctor could have done to make me admit my problem. nothing.

you said you had a bad reaction to medication - what does this have to do with alcoholics?

MissMiniTheMinx · 20/11/2013 21:39

gobbin, why not just ask if OPs first language is English? The syntax is odd, usually a sign that English is a second language, no? Maybe?

butdontknowyethow · 20/11/2013 21:40

Toffee I am perfectly fine

Just a situation from the past
Was reading something today and I was just wondering how does it work

Obviously must be natural that everyone can have different level of tolerance with any prescribed medicines
Mine was quite strange one
I wasn't mixing with anything

But I was really surprised when I heard stories about taking the some painkiller and drinking it with alcohol

CrazyOldCatLady · 20/11/2013 21:44

I'm peckish, anyone for a hamwidge?

butdontknowyethow · 20/11/2013 21:46

Mrs I had friend recovering long long time ago

I'm glad you are recovering one
I know how extremely difficult it must be
Take care and keep it that way

And no I don't drink I always have been really scared of alcohol

QOD · 20/11/2013 21:46

Some straaaaange posts tonight

Are you a known alcoholic?

toffeesponge · 20/11/2013 21:49

OP - are you talking about a reaction a friend has had or one you have had?

ThisWayForCrazy · 20/11/2013 21:50

I read this. Made no sense. Thought it might be the Wine I drank. But I don't think it is...

gordyslovesheep · 20/11/2013 21:53

OP is making odd connections I think which is why it makes no sense...

OP reacts strongly to medicine for some reason

this leads to the OP jumping to

Is it right that Dr's give medicine to alcoholics

I have no idea why

or if it's unreasonable

Tardis tardis] Tardis Tardis

gordyslovesheep · 20/11/2013 21:54

OH NO tadris fail

mewmeow · 20/11/2013 22:17

Well some people on this thread are being real dicks aren't they?!
Op said its bad that drs sometimes have quite a lazier-faire attitude to drug prescription. I have in the past been prescribed 70mg of something three times a day, which completely knocked me out (but felt good Wink), a year later i went to ask for the same drug from another dr who was genuinely shocked at the dose and said I shouldn't have been on more than 10mg at the very most! I do have a drinking problem and I have been honest about it, it could've been worse I guess. yes dr's work hard and we all make mistakes sometimes, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't sometimes question our prescription and or the power authority relationship. I think the ops point is very reasonable actually.

littlewhitebag · 20/11/2013 22:19

Tardis just wanted to make a tardis.
