DS (7) came home from school today with a nice glossy leaflet and a free sample of some play doh type stuff called sqwooshi.

Now DS is going on about getting some.

I'm annoyed that the school allow such blatant advertising, and sales, especially this close to christmas.

please please please complain.

as a TA I spend valuable awake time putting crap like this into book bags!!!

the teachers have no say in this at all by the way.

I hated my DD getting things in her book bag when at infant and junior school. We had leaflets for places we couldn't afford and I saw it as child pressure selling

Rewards included vouchers for ice skating, ten pin bowling or swimming, but ONLY a child ticket so in order to get your child's reward you had to fork out for the tickets for everyone else. You'd be seen as a spoil sport if you didn't when the kids were very young or at the least, a very disappointed child. [mad]

Deputy Head at DC's school gave permission for the school name to be used on leaflets advertising tutoring (errr wasnt teaching the children the school's job?).

Interestingly it hadnt been run past the Head. Complaints were made and it didnt happen again.
