To be pissed off that a Sainsburys delivery driver told DP off!

Im not even sure if im in the wrong or not here, My DP used a £15 off first shop code with sainsburys to have our shopping delivered today, on his card, his name, his email etc, I used one about 6 months ago, in my name my card my email. The delivery driver came and told him off and said Ive been here before I know what youve done, next time we wont deliver. I am not sure if hes in the wrong or we are as the t&c's at sainsburys say per Customer, not household in regards to the codes. Im expecting to get flamed haha, but he was bloody rude.

Do you think he was just joking? Even so, probably not called for. Cheeky sod.

SirChenjin · 20/11/2013 13:30

We've done this before - the code is per person, not per household. I would have been on the phone to complain.

ViviPru · 20/11/2013 13:31

As if, what a jobsworth. Supermarkets WANT you to redeem the vouchers across the family, £15 will have been worked into their promo budget. What in idiot. I'd complain to Sainsbos and tell them your DP placed the order having no idea you'd previously redeemed the offer. They'll be all over compensating you for this guy's poor customer service.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 20/11/2013 13:32

Unless it states per household, then you did nothing wrong, and the delivery driver was being a tosser.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 20/11/2013 13:34

The driver was out of order. Complain and get a voucher for money off another shop that the twat will have to deliver to you.

IslaValargeone · 20/11/2013 13:34

What a dick.
How did he know you hadn't just moved in?

justmyview · 20/11/2013 13:35

I might have expected a knowing wink from the driver if he thought (rightly or only) that your DP was pulling a fast one, but am surprised he cared enough to comment on it

cantheyseeme · 20/11/2013 13:35

Im going to email them and tell them i wont order again cos of the driver!

Well, he's talking bollocks for one isn't he. What happens in shared accommodation? Do supermarkets expect a tenancy account?

If he was been serious then get on the phone and complain. I'm surprised he knew what the voucher was for tbh, he obviously is a keen reader of receipts.

Mim78 · 20/11/2013 13:38

YANBU.

If it's per customer, it's per customer.

Surely if you were doing something wrong then it's not the driver's job to tell you anyway?

bitemabum · 20/11/2013 13:39

About 2 years ago now an asda delivery driver was bringing in my I bagged shopping and when he handed me the chivvy biscuits he said I shouldn't be eating them! Probably true and OH thought it was hilarious, I didn't. Cheeky bastard!

superlambanana · 20/11/2013 13:39

Yanbu. I'd be annoyed at that and would complain.

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 20/11/2013 13:40

Driver was being rude and is out of order.
If it's per household fair enough, but even then he can't have known if your DP was a new occupant, even a new occupant with the same surname.
There are any number of possibilities and it's up to the system to decide not the van driver.

bitemabum · 20/11/2013 13:40

That was supposed to say "unbagged".

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 20/11/2013 13:43

What a jobsworth little tit.

When I'm out in a company vehicle, I'm part of the brand. In private I might think the customer's a twat, that the product they bought is shit, or that their house decor exhibits the taste of a colour-blind baboon.

But I won't say so, because it's not professional.

bitemabum · 20/11/2013 13:43

And "choccy"

NaturalBaby · 20/11/2013 13:55

How did he even know? His job is to deliver your shopping, not inspect your receipts and check your vouchers. I find it a bit creepy. We've done the same thing in our house - a voucher for me and another for DH.

samandi · 20/11/2013 14:03

And what if it's unrelated people housesharing? If it said per household then yes that's a bit cheeky, but their system should pick it up presumably. If it didn't, then you've done nothing wrong. Not sure how they would prevent people using different cards/emails though.

samandi · 20/11/2013 14:03

Either way, it's not up to him to be talking to customers that way. His job is to drive and deliver.

momb · 20/11/2013 14:05

I had calls on my mobile at work from the local sainsburys after I'd contacted the central number to get a refund on some veggies which were practically off on delivery. Really aggressive jobsworths. I switched supermarkets after that.
