to ask if play fighting is allowed in your school playground?

Have a thread in chat, DS is being hurt each day, he is 5. On observation the boys are engaging in rough play fighting, throwing each other on the floor, jumping on each other. DS is not into this type of play fighting and finds it scary. MDA seems to allow it.

Does your school allow it?

No, not allowed. Some active rougher play is allowed but in a particular zone, and there are zones for ball sports and a gentle lego.drawing zone too.

My dds adore play fighting and since they started judo they spend a lot of time leaping on top of each other, with increasingly sophisticated moves, but never at school.

I think it's allowed at our schoo but then there is so much for the children to do anyway, we have climbing walls, underground tunnels, tire swings and all sorts that generally everyone is too busy trying to go on everything to fight.

At lunch we have skipping ropes and hockey out and upturned-bucket stilts, hoola hoops, lolo balls. At the Juniors they employ someone specifically to play games with kids at lunchtime.

They still fight!

Yes but not allowed to get out of hand. So no kicks or punches landing, wrestling only. If it does get out of hand, you receiving a bollocking so bad that your ears are still ringing and you are still cross eyed at home time aren't you ds1.

But that isn't what you are describing - you are describing two children running round attacking other. Which is entirely different and the school should be down on this like a tonne of bricks.
