We're trying to sell our small but beautifully formed place in London and buy a slightly bigger one.
We've seen quite a few places now but only one that we even remotely like which fits location/size needs and have been twice in a couple of days - we'll probably offer on it and hope to buy it.
In the interests of not settling for the first thing we've seen which is okay (although it is covered in dog poo and needs completely gutting), I went to go and view another place tonight whilst DH was working away. This property doesn't have any floor plans or anything yet as it's fresh on the market and is expected to sell quickly. I got to see it for 15 minutes in the dark tonight - it wasn't possible to have a proper look at some of the rooms as the occupiers' Dad with Alzheimer's lives there and is present all the time (fair enough, this is not the AIBU thing). It looked as if there are a couple of problems with damp.
On the way out of the 2nd house, the agent (who is also selling our place) said that for us to stand any chance of buying this one - which I'm less keen on - we'd need to see it tomorrow night (i.e. both viewings in the dark and without having free roam to get a sense of the place) and offer straight away. It's on for a humungous amount of money. We are tied into our neighbourhood because of work and family commitments so are forced to participate in this market, but is the estate agent BU to expect us to make a huge financial decision based on what would be less than half an hour (i.e. both viewings) in a property we've not even seen in daylight? I felt really pressurised and pissed off that people who are already getting commission from us are trying to push us in this direction without having time to think about it.
