I've been suffering from really bad insomnia for the past week or so and am barely functioning on only 2-3 hours of sleep a night. My DF has told me to take some herbal sleeping tablets, but I'm worried how I will be once I've taken them.

DS is almost 2 and sleeps from 7-6 most nights if not later. Does anybody take sleeping tablets? Are you easily woken? Are you drowsy if you do wake? I'm just worried that DS will wake up and I won't hear him, or that I will be groggy.

I've not read all the thread but I would DEFO take them. I sometimes take prescribed sleeping tablets. I've taken them on an aeroplane before (gp assured me I would be able to wake up in an emergency).
You will wake up. you will hear your child. you will be able to function. Then when you fall back into bed, you'll just go back to sleep really quickly.
The next morning you might feel a bit groggy and I find my mouth feels disgusting (but that might be because I've slept with my mouth open).

but if it doesn't ease do talk to your gp and get the proper stuff!!!

Yep I take temazopam from time to time and have a 4 year old (and just us in the house). I always wake up (a bit groggy) if DD calls me. She does sleep in my room though, so unsure if I would if she was in a different room.
