I'm being a grumpy old git I know. But how often do people ask a pretty simple question, and if they just typed a few words into Google it just comes up first hit. I won't quote threads, but recently I couldn't help thinking... why not just look this up yourself... A bit lazy? Or just me?

Because MN does not charge per word?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 17/11/2013 16:14

Some of the threads that start out with the most mundane OPs can turn out to be the best ones.

Yeah, like pegging.

SpencerPercival · 17/11/2013 16:14

LIke this you mean?

Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2013 16:15

I think it's very effectual. Info and a chat at the same time. Smile

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 17/11/2013 16:15

Spencer, you got there before me! Was just about to post LMGFY!!!
Is a well-used phrase in our house.

grumpyoldbat · 17/11/2013 16:17

I ask questions like that at work. At home I'd just google it but if something comes into my head at work I'll ask because we're not allowed to google things and by the time I get home I'll have forgotten what I wanted to know. Also a rare opportunity for some adult conversation.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 17/11/2013 16:18

The fifth post on this thread was LMGTFY.

We need a yawn emoticon

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 16:21

because it is nice to muse and chat about the mundane sometimes and these threads can turn out to be the best , and sometimes i am too scared to google Grin

Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2013 16:22

Sometimes I don't think musing is allowed on MN.

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 16:24

god it would be really boring if we couldnt muse sparkling

Tee2072 · 17/11/2013 16:24

It's not Sparkling.

Only relevant, witty and important conversation is allowed.

Did you not get the memo?

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 16:25

Only relevant, witty and important conversation is allowed.

thats sparklings random This Morning threads out the window then

Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2013 16:28

I am redundant on MN then. My Z list Celebs threads and relentless fawning over Gareth Malone will be no more. Sad

Tee2072 · 17/11/2013 16:29

'Fraid so.

Better leave your membership badge with me and head out the door.

Of course, I'm right behind you.

GingerPCatt · 17/11/2013 16:30

Google doesn't answer the question it gives you a link that probably answers the question. Some people just want someone to say the answer is 42.

Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2013 16:34

Tee I will resolve to make my threads more high brow and ground breaking. Wink

Peekingduck · 17/11/2013 16:34

I think people are missing my point a bit, but I don't really mind. Grin I'm not saying go on Google when you fancy a bit of a natter, want an opinion or fancy a bit of "musing". I'm saying Google might be your friend when you want to know the nearest train station to somewhere, or what the government guidelines are on something. Then you muse away happily about the answers maybe...

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 17/11/2013 16:37

No, we got your point. We just don't agree with your point.

Do you see the difference or shall I Google that for you?

Grin
Sparklingbrook · 17/11/2013 16:38

Take the nearest station to X question. Google will tell you the name of the station.

A Mnetter will tell you the name, that parking is a nightmare, ask you where you are travelling to, tell you that another station would be better......

grumpyoldbat · 17/11/2013 16:40

Google isn't much help when you can't access it.

Peekingduck · 17/11/2013 16:41

Tee, please do. I'm a grumpy old git, I'll enjoy wasting some of your time in Google. Grin
