Well, am I?

DH want to buy something totally unnecessary but expensive.
I don't want it.
We can 'afford' it if affording means the monthly payments.
We have totally shared finances, we both work, I would not stand in his way if this rocks his world, BUT he keeps asking me to approve.

I am disapproving of this purchase, I don't want it, I do think it's a waste of money we could spend on other luxuries (first world problem, I know). How much clearer can I make it??

Aaaaargh!!

So, I am clear or not??
Over to the MN Jury Grin

Only twats drive speedboats.

They are the marine equivalent of a souped up hatchback with a noisy exhaust.

Your DH might have the fantasy that folk are watching him in envy as he buzzes about a hitherto quiet bay.

In fact they are thinking "What a dickhead. I wish he'd piss off."

Hope this helps. Smile

Grin No argument from me, silverten.

When I met him he owned a souped-up hatchback.
With a ginormous, incredibly loud exhaust Hmm.

I should've known, shouldn't I?
I should've known better... Sad

He does have redeeming features but this obsession with anything with an engine is... wearing.

Buy him a toy bath boat.

Tell him you've given him a bloody boat, what more does he want?

(Well, that's what I did when DH had a hankering for duck keeping.)

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2013 16:46
Grin Love it, Always, v good.

See, I would like some ducks....

I was with you until you said "boat" I'd love one! In fact I might even give up chocolate to buy one! Grin
Might even sell the kids to buy one! Wink

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2013 16:51

You can ours - but I am NOT taking one of your kids, no way Grin.

Ours is a wee bit sunk though

He feels he shouldn't piss the money away, but would feel better about it if you agreed. You wanted it all along, you see.
I had one like this (he NEEDED every new gadget out there and tried to convice me I did too) and it got so wearing in the end. He's now an ex,

Bogeyface · 16/11/2013 17:01

He needs you to agree so if when it turns out to be a cash guzzling white elephant, you are not allowed to moan about it because you agreed!

Dont agree, never agree!

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2013 17:04

Oh, I won't, I am good at this.

We've been here before and we'll be here again... Hmm.

Charles, I am not planning on making him an ex, but I can see how one would want to.
