To go back to doctors again with my 13 year old even though I've been told 3 times that he will grow out of puking

My child vomits quite a lot, not as much as he used to but quite frequently

He vomits when he's otherwise fine or when he's nervous about something, or when he gets up too early so first day back at school after half term = vomiting, school trip or performance = vomiting, going out for a day vomiting

It is not retching it is really bad episodes of vomiting that last a few minutes. He also gets really bad cramping at unusual times like when out playing with mates

He has periods when he will vomit every day for a couple of weeks then not at all, he has times when he will be carsick then not at all.

We went to doctors when he was 5 they said he will grow out of it, same at 8 and at 11

He's nearly 13 - he's still does it

Doesn't seem normal to me

I used to get so nervous I'd throw up, but not as often as your DS, by the sounds of it - although I did get nauseous a fair bit. I also had IBS - but in my 30s, discovered this was due to a wheat intolerance - since giving up wheat, I have no IBS and I haven't vomited or felt nauseous with nerves since (although that could partially be through age, I guess!)

Adrenalin can cause nausea and sickness if you're easily affected by it, but I don't know if that's related to any particular disease.

I hope that you can get some resolution for him - it's not a nice thing to have to live with!

Have you considered this? Ds had this when younger but seems to have outgrown it now an adult.

Not sure if you are aware but dentists can refer to specialists too. I have found dentists much more helpful for oral related stuff. Alternatively can you say to gp that his school are concerned about it too.

My youngest was like this, I thought it may have been anxiety but he insisted it wasn't (even had him at a therapist). I tracked is diet but it did not seem to follow any reason until a friend of mine mentioned soy sensitivity. True enough anything with soy as the first 3 or 4 ingredients did it, from a fruit juice to school lunch pizza made with soy flour. Its worth looking at his diet and then looking at all ingredients listed to see if there is a trigger for this.

Have you thought of selective immune deficiency? This where just one immunoglobin is very low or missing sporadically. It's very common - 1in300 have it but most don't suffer severe enough symptoms to notice. A blood test will show it up.

Hope you get it sorted but would insist they start working through possibilities if only to rule them out.
