Aaagh, FFS children! It costs us more than we can afford to put both of you into nursery for two measley little afternoons a week, so I can try to get my freelance work done , try and save my flagging career and do a weekly shift. Why oh why do you persist on being ill almost every fucking week so we still have to pay, but also have to cancel all work and work meetings at short notice? FFS dd, I know I should be full of sympathy, but falling over and giving yourself a black eye 10 mins before we leave for nursery, it look almost intentional. I love having to cancel an important meeting at 15 mins notice.and thanks for the last six week's of chickenpox, vomiting, temperatures and coughs. I'm on a disciplinary at work due to using too much caters leave, my freelance career is a laughing stock and I'm utterly skint from paying nursery fees. Aaaaaaaaaaaagh

Big sympathy hooch. Don't forget the 'I use up all my annual leave/colleagues goodwill' taking time off for your sick days, so when I am sick I just have to soldier on one too. Ever wonder how on earth work hasnt yet evolved to allow for the contingencies involved in having kids? After all, it isn't like its an unusual state of affairs, is it? (Says she in bed, sick, on first day off after being poorly pretty much constantly for a month). Bah.

Thank you . Calprofen, ice and cuddles administered. Toddler rampaging again. Bank account 40 quid lighter for nothing. Humbug

Oh I know, my toddler was ill this week and missed nursery.

What was worse was that I'd worked the weekend so had days off all to myself, which didn't happen! I had a poorly toddler instead.

cjel · 15/11/2013 15:55

I can't believe your dcs are so selfish LTBs

MuddlingMackem · 15/11/2013 15:58

I've always been ruthless. Unless they're actually poorly or infectious they go school, and the same was true of nursery. (Because if they're not poorly they end up stir crazy so they're better off at school, not because I'm actually that hard-hearted. Grin )

So sympathies for your situation. It's really rough if you're the only one who can do the childcare when they're sick. But the next black eye: calpol, ice pack on the journey and chuck her in through the nursery door! Wink

katese11 · 15/11/2013 16:15

So with you! On the ill dcs (home today), on the cost of childcare and on trying to freelance around dcs at the best of times. Sympathy!

CaptainSweatPants · 15/11/2013 16:17

Yep a black eye isn't infectious so I'd have sent her in

hooochycoo · 15/11/2013 16:22

I did take her in, but nursery phoned me 45 mins later asking me to go get her. Felt like a really caring mother

My favourite part of raising DS was when, aged 2, he used to vomit or have a bout of diarrhea at lunchtime on Tuesday what felt like pretty much every other week for about 3 months. I worked Tues, Weds, Thurs, they had a 48 hour exclusion policy which would mean that I would get in half a day of work on Tuesday and then be stuck at home for Weds and Thurs as he wasn't allowed back in until 1pm on Thurs which would be pointless as I wouldn't get to work until 2.30...

Due to the nature of our jobs, I could do my job from home and flex the hours somewhat whereas DH had to be physically present every day, so it was always me who had to suck it up and then work evenings to make it up.

DD seems less sickly than DS so it's much rarer for this to happen, and DS is pretty much fine now he's at school. Thought I was over that phase but have decided to have DC3. I'm a fool...
