To be upset by this?

I was at an event organised by my DH's work last night, a quiz. AIBU to be upset by the fact that one of his male colleagues obeserved me leaving my table to use the toilet, then timed to the second how long it took me to return to the table? I heard him outside stating to a number of people that as I had only been in the toilet for a short time (given the exact duration in minutes and seconds) i was obviously using my phone to cheat and not actually using the facilities. I know it sounds petty but I am actually mortified that this man took it upon himself to time me, I feel my privacy was invaded and am slighly creepd out by it all.

YABU to let it upset you. YANBU to think that bloke is a knobhead of the highest order.

I think your dh's colleague is rude. People like this are often best politely ignored tbh. giving him the attention by responding to his rudeness may be just what he wants.

nosleeptillbedtime · 14/11/2013 20:29

What a freak he is! I would be creeped out by the weirdness. And insulted to be called a cheat.

YANBU. What an asshole.
To respond or get upset is the desired response. Don't give the nob the satisfaction.

SarahAndFuck · 14/11/2013 20:32

How weird of him. And rude.

Although someone where I work commented on how long I took in the toilet once (there was a small queue and only two cubicles) but it was one of those times where I managed to think of a reply at the time not three hours later. So I said "well I always wash my hands when I've finished, you should try it sometime" and walked away.

I love your name OP, one of my favourite books of the series Smile

I'm honestly not sure what his issue was. Tbh I have a medical condition that i'm incredibly self conscious about which means feel I have to go frequently but maybe only actually have to every other time iyswim. the fact that this man was drawing such attention to it in a large crowd of people has left me feeling awful. Also we were shit in the quiz, if I'd be cheating you'd think we would have been doing well Smile . Thanks for your comments.

Yanbu at all. What a horrible man. I would've been really upset by that too....it sounds like one of those awful moments at a social event where you look at someone in disbelief thinking they must be joking and then realise in horror that they are not!

Mylovelyboy · 14/11/2013 20:42
Hmm
Edendance · 14/11/2013 21:04

You should've come out and rubbed your tummy saying 'ohhhh, I wouldn't go in there for a while, sorry'!

BruthasTortoise · 14/11/2013 21:38

Lila it was exactly that - the fella didn't know I was standing behind him when he was talking about me and his face was a picture when he spotted me.
Not sure what's the face for mylovelyboy but thanks for your input, it's much appreciated Hmm

Aren't these events supposed to be fun? This guy is obviously a twat of the highest order who takes these things far too seriously
