to want my jeans to FIT?!

I bought a nice pair of jeans a while ago and I wore them out for the first time today. They're huge. They're literally falling off my nonexistent arse. I'm a size 8, tag says size 8. I have several different brands trousers and jeans in the same size, and these are the ONLY ones that don't fit! I can fit my entire fist between my tummy and the waistband.

It's been more than a month since I bought them so I can't return them. I have no idea why I didn't realise when I tried them on. I wasn't walking around but still...

I hate shopping. I hate clothes. I want to live in a nudist colony (kidding but it's tempting).

My problem is that I have a massive arse and relatively slim legs (relative to my arse anyway), so jeans that fit around my waist and hips are really baggy on the legs, and those that fit nicely on the legs leave me with horrific muffin top. I have always lived in jeans but think I'll be abandoning them for leggings and jumper dresses this winter.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I'd love to tailor my clothes but it's too expensive and I'm a disaster with a needle. I typically don't look at brand names, I just buy what's on sale. I'll definitely buy some jeggings, though!

I got a brilliant pair of jeans from Howies recently. They are a bit pricey (not designer pricey but more than high street) but typically go down to £30-£40 in the sale. I love them more than is reasonable. Perfect fit and proper denim that feels like it'll last forever.

Day-to-day I mostly live in Uniqlo legging trousers - only discovered these a couple of months ago, it was like a revelation when I first put them on Grin. Only fifteen quid a pair, too.

I really sympathise, though. The search for properly-fitting jeans has been going on for my whole adult life.
