Whistleblower0 · 13/11/2013 18:06

Thanks eatriskier. I'm tempted Smile

Claig mine was a delonghi primadonna if you google it you'll find a pic. It does take up a bit of room we have it near the sink to make it handy for refilling. We have two adults and two teens who drink a lot of coffee so it's worth it for us.

Delilahlilah · 13/11/2013 19:51

Whistle - I do hot choc with the nespresso just by using the hot milk and adding to powder, then add frothy milk. Hth

MadgeBishop · 13/11/2013 19:54

I love mine too Grin

uhOhOhDear · 13/11/2013 19:56

Tassimo pods are twenty percent off in Sainsbury at the moment :-)

claig · 13/11/2013 20:04

Thanks, Shonajoy, I have found a review of it

Whistleblower0 · 30/12/2013 08:14

Had argos vouchers to use, so bought a Tassimo machine on offer in the sales, even though we already have a nespresso.Smile

Bought the pods which have been on offer in tesco and are working our way through them finding what we like.

Also, just ordered the suchard hot choc and more of the americano and macchiato online with the discount voucher that was part of the offer. Will probably use the tassimo mainly for flavoured drinks and hot choc, rather than coffee, as i still slightly prefer the Nespresso for that..

DD loves the cadbury hot choc, and i'm very partial to the macchiato.
Anyone invested in a machine for christmas?

MerryMelawen · 30/12/2013 09:06

I got one for Christmas! Just deciding what to buy with my £20 off voucher. It is a bit expensive but way cheaper than going to Costa/Starbucks/etc. looking forward to trying the hot chocs.

Whistleblower0 · 30/12/2013 09:14

I agree about costa/Starbucks merry we spend too much in costa. One of my new years resoloutions is to reign in my costa coffee habit Smile

We tend to buy in bulk for our nespresso, and will do the same with the Tassimo. That way it doesn't work out too bad price wise.

HorsePetal · 30/12/2013 09:16

Treat yourself to a glass mug or latte mug.

Add the latte milk pod first then stir in the sugar (if using). Then add the coffee pod but don't stir this time!

You'll have beautiful layers of milky coffee in front of your very eyes Grin

Envy have wanted on for as many years as I can remember. Stopped hinting and asked outright and dh swears they are a waste of money :( bloody tea drinkers :(

QueenofLouisiana · 30/12/2013 09:25

I love my Tassimo too. The Costa cappuccino in my favourite, it saves me a fortune as I take one in an insulated mug to DS's swimming and rugby. DH loves the succhard chocolate, DS likes the Cadburys I now have a cupboard dedicated to the pods.

Goldmandra · 30/12/2013 09:32

DH is the only coffee drinker in our house and he often works away during the week. Ground coffee was going off in the fridge so I bought him a Tassimo a couple of years ago.

He loves it. He gets fresh coffee whenever he wants it. We don't use the tea pods because, apparently, the coffee taints it for discerning tea drinkers and DD1 says the hot chocolate is too watery.

DD1 loves the Bambino-chino DH makes her which is a milk pod on it's own, in an espresso cup, sprinkled with cocoa.

The novelty hasn't worn off and it won't because the alternative is instant coffee and DH really prefers fresh.

When we have a few friends round or a party we buy ground coffee and use the cafetière to save money on pods because they are quite pricey in large quantities.

Treat yourself to glass mug or latte mug i ordered some proper latte glasses just yesterday.Smile

Guiltypleasures001 · 30/12/2013 11:42

Hi op we've just got the t40 I think from Tesco with vouchers doubled up I bought 70 mixed pods of coffee different flavours and 3 different kinds of hot chocolate including milks from eBay for 30 quid all new.

RalphGnu · 30/12/2013 12:02

We got a Tassimo from the PIL for Christmas. I had to smile when I noticed the pack of Costa espresso pods too - I had a very unfortunate experience due to Costa coffee and so wondered for a sec if MIL was a mumsnetter. Grin

Am about to order more pods using the £20 voucher, but will be restricting myself to just one first thing in the morning as if I have more than one in eight hours I bounce off the walls.

Any recommendations of which pods to get? What are your favourites?

Harriebabe · 30/12/2013 12:14

I got one for Christmas (to replace one which broke a couple of years ago) but I'd forgotten how foul tasting the pretend milk for the latte and hot chocolate is! I find myself making a Costa espresso, then adding fresh milk I've heated in the microwave. So although I do appreciate the fresh coffee-ness of the Tassimo, I'd prefer a machine that used proper fresh milk.

CoffeeBucks · 30/12/2013 13:51

I got a Delonghi for myself this Christmas - it does ground coffee and pods too but I haven't tried any pods yet. Need to find out which ones it uses. I love it already though :) my new year's resolution is to rein in my Starbucks/Costa habit so hopefully it will help...

NoBloodyMore · 30/12/2013 13:59

I bought myself one after years of wanting one, just working our way through all the flavours finding what I like. The kids love the cadburys hot chocolate and my favourite up to now Is the petit dejeuner coffee with a dash of fresh milk, love it.
