so in certain areas women are being offered £200 in shopping vouchers if they breastfeed for 6 months.

I find this ridiculous. Seriously being paid to feed your child.

Has it? Citation, please?

'citation, please'.

Given that the aim of the project is to increase breastfeeding, the conclusion has already been drawn. You don't need a citation for that.

And if it's any help, let me gather some data for you. Is there a link between getting people to sign a piece of paper saying they have breastfed and offering them £200? Yes, there does seem to be a link. How amazing.

facepalm

So that's a no, then? You don't have a citation, just a load of personal speculation.

It's an initiative by the University of Sheffield to see if they can increase breastfeeding in areas where there is a lot of prejudice and lack of education regarding breastfeeding. It's all well and good lots of nice middle class mums on a forum saying I managed, I would do it without being paid, pay more counsellors, but it's not about us. It's about educating young women that despite the fact that their mums didn't feed (and still got saggy breasts) and that it's not the done thing, it is better to do so. If a financial incentive for one generation creates a new generation of breastfeeding women, job done.

Which puts me right on the same level as the supposed survey. And you.

I'm very very wary of stepping into any debate on this but is like to ask a question if I may?
On here, Facebook, local radio, in fact anywhere I've seen/heard this discussed people have said it penalises mothers who FF, I'm struggling to understand how this is the case. Would anyone be able to explain it to me please?

flatpack except that I'm not second-guessing the results of the study before it takes place. So no, hardly the same at all in fact.
