to think that Ocado's service is appalling

Yes its a first world problem but if you pay for Ocado delivery pass you expect to have your items delivered. I had the worse ever Ocado order on Saturday which happened to be my young daughter's birthday. Lots of my order was missing that was needed for a lunch and a party. I couldn't make my daughter's favourite lunch as the main meat item was not delivered. They didn't seem to manage to find any sparkling wine in the whole warehouse. I managed to salvage 4 non mouldy strawberries in a whole packet.

What do I get in compensation £15. Sorry that's not enough to compensate for a 40 minute round trip to the nearest biggest supermarket which is packed full as its on the only large supermarket for miles (yes I live rurally). Bastards won't even let me stop my Ocado pass as I signed up for 12 months (can't recollect agreeing to that).

I'm another that loves Ocado. The year we had heavy snow, no-one could get through to our estate... except the Ocado driver, who rang to apologise for running late and had dug his way through on every one of his deliveries that day.
I was so impressed, I emailed their MD.

And sixlive, how sure are you that the negative comments weren't written by Tesco or Asda? Wink

I use Sainsbury's and I have done since they started. Never had a cancelled order. Never had a problem with substitutions. Never been late. Always got what I ordered or a sensible substitution. Great value for money and free delivery every Tuesday - Thursday as long as you spend over £100 which I always do!
Would never change now. Grin

OP, I can't believe you just said you hope 'they don't let you down on a crucial day like they did with me.' Crucial day?

Shock

It's crazy that you left it to the very last minute and risked a shopping delivery on the day of your party. Any store could have delivery/stock problems, that simply sometimes happens to any online service. You are at fault for booking a delivery on your 'crucial' day. Why not take responsibilty for your poor time management decision rather ask for fifty quid in compensation? Hmm

BobaFetaCheese · 13/11/2013 12:47

ZombieMojave, I keep on seeing your name and meaning to ask...is it a Fallout reference?

sixlive, I know I'm not Ocado...sort of like a reverse 'Im Spartacus'!

Our Saturday debacle has got worse as Ocado haven't give us a refund for the substitution that we rejected.

Anatanacoat · 13/11/2013 13:59

Awww, that sounds rubbish for you, OP. I do think you were unlucky! I've shopped with Ocado for ages and on the rare occasion I've had a problem they've been really good. Also, to the people saying £50 is madness, Ocado gave me £45 in vouchers for their one momentous fuckup, so it's not unheard of. To be fair they wasted six hours of my time and I ended up having to book emergency care cover (£££) because of their mistake, so they really seriously messed up my day, but still, it happened.

I find Ocado to generally be better than Waitrose for few substitutions, and their website to be miiiiles better. Otherwise I would jump ship to Waitrose in a second to get the full Waitrose range.
