This morning I did pancakes ( American style) with maple syrup and bacon with a mix fruit salad.

For dinner we are having roast pork and stuffing ( home made that Paxo is vile) roast potato and vegetables ( broccoli, carrots, sprouts, peas, Savoy cabbage) with home made Garvey.

Do you tend to cook more on the weekend when you have more time.

This morning, we had melon, boiled eggs and the others had toast (I'm trying to lose weight). In the oven is a beef casserole with onions, garlic, lots of carrots, a leek, masses of mushrooms, thyme and onion and beef stock. Serving with mashed potatoes and broccoli and cauliflour. House smells scrumptious.

Cook a nice dinner every weeknight, but do make more of an effort over breakfast (realistically brunch since we eat it at midday).

This morning we had poached eggs on spiced spinach with bombay potatoes. And lots of hot, strong tea.

Dinner will be a good chicken roasted with parsnips and beetroot. Do something with the leftover chicken on Monday. Then a lovely risotto with the stock.

It depends on the weekend. Some weekends we have bacon and eggs & toast or scrambled eggs, others like this one we had early starts so it was normal coffee and cereal / toast etc.

If we are having a lazy sunday I like to cook a roast and then use the leftovers for the next couple of days, but this weekend I cooked a large honey roast M&S gammon on Friday night and we had it then with steamed cabbage and baked potatoes and last night and tonight we are having the left over meat on puff pastry with caramelised onions and brie with crispy potatoes and salad. Easy and no waste at all with the meat.

I like to eat out at the weekend, today we went for a coffee but that was it.

If we had a large brunch / breakfast we would only have 2 meals that day.

I tend to make what I consider better meals at the weekend for the simple reason that I have more time.

Tonight we have had roast beef, roast tatties, parsnips, peas, yorkshire puds and gravy.

Was going to be followed by sticky toffee pudding - sadly not home made - but the kids came home unexpectedly and ate it yesterday.Sad

Dessert was ice cream shop bought :)

Wait to the kids are in bed and I think the wine will be calling with a book. Perfect way to end this weekend.

Me and DP both work weekends and rarely get the same day off so we save our greedy breakfasts for our holidays. We're off next week and we're planning giant rosti and poached eggs, chocolate pretzels, a fry up and cinnamon french toast over the next few days Blush

We eat home cooked dinners every night when we're at work but tend to do homemade junk food on a Saturday so will have lovely burgers, curries etc. Sunday is always roast day and the only day we have proper pudding.

SalfordLadsClub · 10/11/2013 19:21

I can't be arsed to cook at the weekend now, so eat out. Make bacon sandwiches in the morning if in the mood, and sometimes cook a curry on a sunday (really go to town and do it properly though).

I cook an evening meal in the week most days.

Saturday breakfast is weetabix, eaten fast, as the kids have swimming. I usually make an effort with the other weekend meals as it's our only chance to eat together as dh works silly hours with a commute. Sat lunch is usually homemade bread with soup, cheese, pate, sat dinner I try to get the dds to eat something slightly more interesting/spicy than they're used to, Sunday breakfast we have poached eggs and I do a roast or casserole or something similar for dinner.

not2nitedarling · 10/11/2013 19:30

Dinner.. ham/cheese/tomato sandwich for me, noodles for dd

Tea.. lamb chops, boiled potatoes, peas and cauliflower. Made reindeer biscuits for afters!! yum yum

SillyBlueHat · 10/11/2013 19:36

We are much lazier at the weekends. Tonight is a takeaway curry.

YukonHo · 10/11/2013 19:55

I'm low (ish) carbing, so breakfast (for me) was a handful of nuts and an apple, lunch some Halloumi and peppers (dh and kids had rice with theirs) and supper a puy lentil, bacon and beetroot salad. :) luckily the kids love the two other meals but they had Cheerios for breakfast, because its the only day of the week they are allowed cereal with sugar in. (Tough mother)

Yama · 10/11/2013 20:01

Dh made bacon and eggs for breakfast with proper coffee.

I made, what I call, Spanish pork with brocolli for dinner. Was nice.

I tend to cook more elaborate dishes at the weekend however since my baby is only 3 months its been quick easy meals from scratch. Breakfast was cake (needed the sugar and carbs)and then porridge 10 mins later. Lunch was two indian stuffed chapatis that my MIL made for me. Dinner was breaded chicken breasts (made my own breadcrumb mixture which took seconds whizzing some bread in the food processor). I added grated parmasan, Cajun seasoning salt and black pepper to the breadcrumb mixture. Served with corn on the cob and pitta bread and salad. Think of a homemade Nandos. I have lots of quick/easy meals that I make from scratch like homemade pizza which I cook on stone baked pizza trays. Teriyaki chicken, stir frys, burritos etc for during the week with enough leftover for lunch the next day. Leftovers are very important now that i have a young baby as it means I have lunch all ready as my time is limited. I always plan the meals as well and try and make a few things a month that I have never made before just for the variety.
