Old school friend on FB. Don't mind FB, didn't mind her, normally interesting updates etc.

She's just had her first baby, which is lovely. However, in 5 days there have been...

Live updates from the birth
A frankly unusual conversation about boobs and milk
Live updates every night about sleeping and eating habits
An Ann Geddes-style photo shoot with hairbands and nests
The use of the phrases 'gorgeous gal' and 'my bubz'
One of those black and white huggy mum and baby photo shoots

She's a NM'er, isn't she?

I can't decide if it's the hairband or the 'bubz' that has done it for me.

(Disclaimer - In no way am I mildly hungover this morning and unable to cope with 'bubz'...)

Yes, you do need to take action.

ZillionChocolate · 10/11/2013 08:08

Threaten her with STFU Parents.

PansOnFire · 10/11/2013 08:10

Oh similar over here, it only gets worse. I'd do a few 'likes' and a few 'very sweet' comments and then hide her.

I can sort of abide the constant updates although it's fucking annoying but the professional photo shoots and words like 'bubz' grate on me. The photos are private, they should remain that way. YANBU.

FreyaFridays · 10/11/2013 08:10

Oh God, I can't stand these people. I tolerate it from close friends, as at least I am mildly interested in seeing pictures of their children. A lot of school friends were deleted in the last clear-out though, I couldn't take anymore "live pregnancy and labour updates" and "bubbas".

Thurlow · 10/11/2013 08:11

The live middle of the night updates are bearable. Even the conversation about the state of her boobs.

But the nest! And the hairband! Why, why for the love of god?

I have a friend who hasn't had her baby yet and her timeline is full of "I'm a mom.." type posts.

My finger is hovering over the 'hide all posts' button...

Tee2072 · 10/11/2013 08:33

I cannot tell how much my stress levels have gone down since hiding 99% of my so called friends on FB.

My timeline is now a pleasure to read. Grin

BuzzardBird · 10/11/2013 08:37

Why don't you recommend she joins mn and then she will quickly pick up how twattish she is being?

Amibambini · 10/11/2013 08:43

Urgh! Hide, do it now. I have a friend who uploads dozens of the same picture of her kid at the same time. I can't figure out if she can't figure out how to edit or just thinks that all 15 of those identical, blurry, badly lit phone pics of her gurning kid are all equally cute or interesting. And she often caps locks. I do love her though, I just have to restraint self from sitting her down and giving her a Facebook 101 lesson!

Thurlow · 10/11/2013 08:44

Buzzard Grin

I have to admit there is a little part of me which is tempted to keep her so that I can have an insight into the NM/hunni/bubz mindset. Kind of like watching a nature documentary.

Normalisavariantofcrazy · 10/11/2013 08:44

And posts like that are why I deleted Facebook

BuzzardBird · 10/11/2013 08:51

Ha ha, I know what you mean Grin

SharpLily · 10/11/2013 08:53

Could be worse. Could have been 'gawjus gal'...

ivykaty44 · 10/11/2013 08:58

hairbands - wtf has that got to do with having a baby - the mind boggles for 2 seconds....

Joysmum · 10/11/2013 08:59

You're clearly not on the same page as her so hide her if it bothers you that much.

I'm guessing people get just as fed up with me banging on about my hobby and my family and have hidden my account too just as I have in the past from veggies who like meat is murder sites and those who worry about immigration posting rascist stuff that's years out of date anyway.

We can't all be the same and it doesn't have to turn into a bitchfest. That's life.

2rebecca · 10/11/2013 08:59

I agree with just hiding her.

thenicknameiwantedisgone · 10/11/2013 09:04

What is worse is someone I know who has a new puppy. Every day there is a report of "x's (dog's name) news for today is one paper wee teen straight outside when DH came home for a poo. We are SO proud of him :-) :-) xxxxxxxx"

Aghhhhhhhhh!!!!

thegreylady · 10/11/2013 09:11

I have a relative, my cousin's dd, who has a baby girl. She commits every mn crime in the book except 1. The pink, the frills, the hairbands, the bubz and princess, the 'lal gal' etc etc make me wince. Even the name is K**a. This little girl is 14 months old and so loved and cared for. She is still bf has three adoring brothers and a dad who worships her as well as her mum. She'll survive her frills and headbands.

Ememem84 · 10/11/2013 09:13

I have a fb friend who does this about her 'baby girl'. I initially thought baby girl was just that. But no. Baby girl is her house rabbit.

Thurlow · 10/11/2013 09:25

There is a marvellous way around this, click on her profile, click on where it says friends and then tick 'acquaintances'. For the most part her posts will now be hidden whilst you maintain the good FB friend Karma.

Next time you update your status, click on the little drop down arrow next to post and select 'friends except acquaintances'. Now they can't see your posts either Wink

It's a great way of getting rid of those you can't stand without having to delete them and cause trouble for example your Husbands racist family....
