Discuss.

bootsycollins · 09/11/2013 18:24

Dunno. I like it. Why does it wind you up? Do you think it's pompous?

Auntidote · 09/11/2013 18:25

YABU. And circular.

Hassled · 09/11/2013 18:25

:o

I bloody hate it too. It's the imperative mood of it that winds me up, as well as the fact I'm taken straight back to A Level essay questions. Ask nicely and I might discuss it with you.

MardyBra · 09/11/2013 18:28
  1. I don't like being told what to do
  1. It feels a little rude.
  1. Why can't the op give their own opinion instead of sitting on the fence and letting others do the hard work?

I also tend to think "journo touting for some quotes" - if they don't have an opinion themselves, why else did they start the thread?

TalcAndTurnips · 09/11/2013 18:33

Hello Mardy

Could we moot instead? I like bit of a good old-fashioned mooting. I prefer it to deliberating.

WorraLiberty · 09/11/2013 18:34

YANBU

It makes me irrationally angry

I feel the only fitting reply is FUCK OFF.

MardyBra · 09/11/2013 18:34

Maybe a ponder or a bit of cud-chewing talcy?

OP posts:
bootsycollins · 09/11/2013 18:35

Hmmm yeah good point Hassled, lazy hacks calling card.

ophiotaurus · 09/11/2013 18:35

It annoys me too.

KerwhizzedMyself · 09/11/2013 18:37

Yanbu. It feels a little "dance, minions, dance for me!" to me.

Handbagsonnhold · 09/11/2013 18:38

"Come n talk to me about...?.....

NO Confused

RevelsRoulette · 09/11/2013 18:41

i hate it too.

i dislike some random on the net acting like they can bark orders Grin yes boss, we'll discuss boss, whatever you say boss.

Give your opinon and ask "what do you think" or something like that but don't order people to Discuss.

Dance little people. Amuse Me.

It feels arrogant.

Bowlersarm · 09/11/2013 18:42

I don't like it.

It sounds all sort of superior somehow.

monkeyfacegrace · 09/11/2013 18:42

Discuss makes my teeth itch.
No I wont fucking discuss you patronising arsehair.

Hth.

TalcAndTurnips · 09/11/2013 18:42

Oooh yes Mards - we could lean on a five-bar-gate in our smocks and chew on a stalk of barley.

Slightly less intense than Discuss. I have some nice twine for tying around your trews, should you so wish.

CosmicDespot · 09/11/2013 18:44

I don't like it, and I don't like being told to 'enjoy' either. So there.

IamInvisible · 09/11/2013 18:45

It pisses me off too.

I remember at school being given a scenario or topic for an essay and the teacher writing 'discuss' at the end of them.

When I see it on here I want to say "fuck off!"

timidviper · 09/11/2013 18:46

I find it very patronising. Makes me want to post "Why should I?"

SecretNutellaFix · 09/11/2013 18:46

I always view people like that as lazy arse journos trying to get us to do their job for them.

Or people trying to raise an argument.

CairoPrankster · 09/11/2013 18:52

I'll discuss what I want to not what I'm told. YANBU

I like to mull things over

TalcAndTurnips · 09/11/2013 18:54

Cairo - I like your thinking.

Mulling over is very low-key and can be done whilst enjoying a cup of tea and a Bath Oliver.

CairoPrankster · 09/11/2013 18:56

And while attending to several other threads at the same time, no strong opinions needed either way

KneesoftheBee · 09/11/2013 18:58

I enjoy mulling.

It's my favourite past time.

KneesoftheBee · 09/11/2013 19:02

*pastime

Although I have mulled in the past and expect to mull again in the future.
