And see if it's worth asking for a welfare check on the neighbours cat?

I am fully prepared to be told I am a namby pampy cat owner here but I am genuinely concerned.

Neighbour 2 doors down, we don't speak don't know much about him except he has some interesting nocturnal habits.

He has a cat that is outside it would seem pretty much most of the time, neighbour has no cat flap so no way for it to come and go. It's pretty aggressive often fighting with ours but also camps outside our cat flap as he can't get in.

I'm looking at our 2 who are tucked up in the warm fast asleep after their morning patrol outside and I feel sorry for neighbours cat.

As the neighbour isn't seen much only heard shagging or playing loud music I'm wondering if his cat is neglected or if I should just MYOB?

I sound like a mad cat women..

How does the cat look? Is its coat in good condition? Does it look the right weight?

RevelsRoulette · 05/11/2013 13:43

I wouldn't bother.

I reported a family who have a dog that is never let inside and who is confined to a small concrete area outside, rabbits that are left with no water, a cat they abandoned and the fact that their son has tried to drown their cat, etc.

The RSPCA flat out told me they wouldn't be going out because apparently despite them having about 120 million quid in the bank and being able to pay their top brass annual salaries of 100,000 - 150,000 - they simply don't have the resources to attend anything other than the most serious cases.

in my opinion the RSPCA is a money making con that uses animals and the public's soft hearts in order to get cash.

Boardingblues · 05/11/2013 13:44

You sound a tad passive aggressive! Are you sure that you aren't using the cat to get at the man who has sex and plays loud music? You don't mention if the cat looks healthy or not!

RevengeWiggle · 05/11/2013 13:46

are you sure it's his cat?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 05/11/2013 13:46

YADBU to phone the RSPCA. They are bloody useless!
TBH cats are fairly self sufficient. If it is outside and hungry, it'll either feed itself or decamp to somewhere where food is more forthcoming. If its trapped inside and starving, then I would worry.

I wouldn't waste the phonecall. The RSPCA are a useless bunch of muppets.

We once had a horse get stuck in a swamp and they refused to attend "because the animal is certain to die, so it'd be a waste of resources". That was 3 years ago and horse is fine and in good health.

Or the time we called them because a poacher across our land had a terrier stuck in a hole. We don't attend such matters.

As for the cat, does it look ok?

absentmindeddooooodles · 05/11/2013 13:51

In fairness my cat is out most of the time. Shes loved cared for and fed but prefers to be outside! If the cat looks cared for then id leave it.

moogalicious · 05/11/2013 13:54

Another one who's cat in out most of the time - he sleeps on our extension roof all day. I bring him in the evening if the weather is bad, but he often goes out again via the cat flap. He looks cared for, although is getting old and raggedy round the ears.

Agree, if the cat looks cared for leave it.

moogalicious · 05/11/2013 13:55

is

WholeNutt · 05/11/2013 13:55

Thank you, feel better now I'm glad I asked. He looks ok he's rather fluffy but I don't think he's thin.

Another one whose cat is outside almost all the time. I try to bring him in but he is restless until he goes out again. If he looks well fed I wouldn't bother.
