are disproportionately likely to have bad spelling grammar and/or punctuation?

Of course, Sod's Law dictates that I'll have misspelt something here.

Is there a back story to this? I can't see that the subject of the post would affect the likelihood of errors.

FrequentFlyerRandomDent · 05/11/2013 13:03

Looking for a bun fight?

Private vs state is always a good one.

Sparklingbrook · 05/11/2013 13:04

I'm not sure I understand your point.

mateysmum · 05/11/2013 13:04

What is your real agenda OP?

Manchesterhistorygirl · 05/11/2013 13:04

Or is it more likely their using an expensive tool to type on? Such as an iPad, etc?

(Runs off flinging buns around.) Wink

Pootles2010 · 05/11/2013 13:04

There are many arguments for/against private education. This is not one of them!

I love bunfights as much as the next maladjusted person, but don't have a dog in this fight (apologies for the mixed metaphors). DS is a long way off going to school and I was educated abroad in a system where the only private schools were crammers.

My first biscuit! I feel like I belong now.

Boardingblues · 05/11/2013 13:31

You missed a comma between spelling and grammar.

Careca · 05/11/2013 13:34

And your point is?

Dyslexia knows no class boundaries, predictive text can throw up some howlers, some folk really don't care, typos can proliferate wildly, what does it matter? Unless you are one of 'em.snobby types wot refuse to reply unless OP is a perfectly crafted piece of prose, in which case, good.

Careca · 05/11/2013 13:36

Muphry's Law innit

FrequentFlyerRandomDent · 05/11/2013 13:38

Interesting. I was also educated abroad where private schools were not very expensive and either for those with terribly religious parents or those who were failing at state school.

Fast forward 20 years, the private schools are more expensive and anyone who can tries and registers their offspring privately as the state schools are failing due to lack of state funds.

I digress. Here is Biscuit. Grin

edam · 05/11/2013 13:42

I've noticed the same thing. Or maybe it's just more noticeable when someone is slagging off state schools.

NewBlueShoesToo · 05/11/2013 13:43

Yess my childeren are privitely educkated and so obvioussly I cant spel.Smile

Retrieverlady · 05/11/2013 13:43

and people interested in grammar schools nearly always call them grammer schools Confused

petitdonkey · 05/11/2013 13:45

My children are at private school but still make spelling mistakes!! I don't believe for a moment that, by paying, they are going to turn into geniuses. We send them because of smaller class sizes and for the broader range of art, music and sport on offer. I don't think that many people are naive enough to believe that all privately schooled children don't make mistakes.

petitdonkey · 05/11/2013 13:46

(plus, many of the people posting on MN about private school didn't receive that education themselves - I didn't.)

KateCroydon · 05/11/2013 13:47

Boardingblues

Knew that would happen!

Well, my school was basically a 1950s grammar school, so what do you expect.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 05/11/2013 13:48

Utter nonsense.

Beastofburden · 05/11/2013 13:54

There are tons of badly spelled and ungrammatical OPs on MN. Unless they are actually about spelling or grammar I would never mention it.

Fenton · 05/11/2013 14:01

As edam said, I think you/one probably look/s for errors when a poster is talking about private education.
