To ask why little toenails fall off and don't hurt?

I think your little toe is a snake OP. That behaviour is shedding. That is what snakes do.

I had weirdly thick brittle little toenails. I asked a chiropodist and he said its to do with either your shoes, or having a flat footed way of walking. Either scenario makes your little toe subtly turn outwards whilst walking, and the abrasion causes the nail to thicken over time....

In my youth I used to pull my little toe nails off!!
I don't do it now (id like to add), but I have perfectly healthy toenails.
I always thought it was weird they didn't hurt, but then I don't have feeling in most of my toes due to circulation problems.
In winter I cant tell if my socks are wet until I take my shoes off...

Dh has weird toenails on his little toes. They curve the wrong way, like tiny flat spoons, and grow in a double layer. At some point the upper layer splits off completely, then for a while he seems to have just one normalish toenail (apart from the spoon shape), until it turns into a double-layered nail again. Eventually the top layer comes away again.

Very weird.

He says his feet have always been like this, even as a child.

I can pull off my little toe nail without pain (though I can't remember how I discovered it ). I sometimes do as a stress-thingy. I have to paint my toe, too ............

I get this too and definitely no infections or anything yucky involved. Every so often it just happens and it's only the little toe nail. I thought I was the only mutant little toed person out there. group hug

ilove my big toes are like that! It's actually a bloody nightmare as can't wear walking boots etc or the nail either falls off (in a squelchy way, not a crunchy corner way) or pushes down to form an ingrown toenail.

My feet really are fucking gross, aren't they?
