complain about this or was it my fault?

Bought ds 15 months, some wellies today, when the woman took off the alarm thing one side has gone into the boot.

I tried them on ds when I got home without checking inside first. He started screaming when I stood him up and I thought he had twisted his ankle. I took the boot off and his sock and realised his foot was bleeding. The very sharp pub that goes through the boot to keep the alarm attached had scratched his foot quite badly.

so basically should I complain to the shop or is it my fault for not checking?

I'd definitely go to the shop and complain. Even if I'd checked the boot first and found it before putting it on my child.

Yes, you should complain!

Take photos of his scratch and the blood too.

Tee2072 · 01/11/2013 17:59

A very sharp what?

What do you hope to get from complaining?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 01/11/2013 18:01

i would let them know simply to make them aware of the danger so they can be more careful in future. just a nasty accident.

FruOla · 01/11/2013 18:03

If they left in the pin, which was part of the security tab (which is what I assume you're talking about), then I'd go back to the shop to have a word with them.

AmberNectarine · 01/11/2013 18:06

Argh, my sympathies - happened to me once walking through a shop - the sharp pin that holds on a security tag had come loose and went right through my (admittedly flimsy) ballet pumps and into my big toe. It was grim.

Definitely complain - hope he's not too sore!

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 01/11/2013 18:07

Yes you should complain. Maybe the staff should be more vigilant. (Yes I've worked in shops).

NachoAddict · 01/11/2013 18:21

Tee just for the staff to be more careful, I'm not into compensation nation or whatever, I just want then to be aware.

Yes sorry the sharp pin that goes through the boot into the other side of the alarm.

I would go back and say so that they can be sure it doesn't happen again

I trod on one of those security pins in a Cath Kidston store and it went right through my shoe. I screamed so loud the whole shop of people stopped in their tracks! I was so embarrassed but it was really painful. My shoe was full of blood! They gave me a big discount though - and although hurt, I did appreciate it was an accident.
