to expect dh to turn his music down?

Am trying to work upstairs, have 5 kids (not all mine) playing here today, dh decided about an hour or two ago to relax in the kitchen tinkering with stereo eqpt (hobby - yawn). So far, so OK. But dh decided to serenade himself with (annoying) music on at full volume. After putting up with it for about an hour, asked him to turn it down - he said he felt like a teenager not being allowed to play music at the volume of his choice. I said he was behaving like a teenager ie selfishly! (Even kitchen windows open - poor neighbours...).

So AIBU? Or is he?

What a knob. Why does he need it so loud?

Modestandatinybitsexy · 01/11/2013 15:35

So is it the fact you've got children there or that you hate his singing? I can relate, my DP's tuneless tones give me headaches mainly because of the jaw clenching I do when subjected to it.

If the music was to your taste would you have minded?

Buy him a shed to do his tinkering in, then only the neighbours will need to worry Grin

I have teens, I spend half my life shouting turn it down or apologising to neighbours yanbu, buy him some wireless headphones for Xmas.

breadandbutterfly · 01/11/2013 15:43

No, he wasn't singing, thankfully! Grin

Just loud radio I think.

But AT FULL VOLUME.

Arggh. No, wouldn't really care what it was - it was just too loud. Noisy enough with 5 kids, 2 of whom are practicing guitar and 3 of whom are shouting!!

He is being a brat.

WTF does he want to behave like a teenager for Hmm ?

The difference between being a teen and being an adult is meant to be that you stop behaving like a selfish arse.

Not that you can behave like a selfish arse and not get told to stoppit.

If you put him in a shed your neighbours would be perfectly within their rights to throw cold custard over his equipment. He needs to live in the middle of nowhere, or in a nightclub, if he wants to behave like this.

breadandbutterfly · 01/11/2013 17:04

Thank you, beastofburden - my thoughts exactly! (though hadn't got as far as the custard...)
