Because I didn't dress my son up for nursery?

Dropped DS off to nursery this morning - all of the other kids are in some kind of spider / ladybird / pumpkin costume. My little one is dressed as himself!

I half feel guilty for not bothering, then l looked at all the other kids sweating in their plastic outifts and trying to pull off various headbands and then I don't feel so bad!

Aibu for not bothering? He's 17 months so hardly going to notice is he??

Go in normal clothes. You are a werewolf on a none full moon.

I have a six year old costume refuser but I'm over worrying about other people thinking I don't make an effort. Of course children do sometimes have to do things they don't want to do, but wearing costumes is something which they can decide for themselves (well obviously when they are a bit older than OPs son).

YANBU - I sent DD into nursery in her Halloween costume as we bought one, so I wanted her to get some use out of it. If I hadn't bought her one, she would have gone in as herself.

YANBU. I sent 2 yr old dd into nursery dressed in her fairy outfit today (a gift from grandparents for her birthday because she loves Ben and Holly) However, i did refuse to send her in dressed up in clothes that represent her future job ambitions on career day Hmm

I wouldn't bother with it under 2. They're not going to appreciate fancy dress. I'm not even sure there's much point before 3.

Catmint - that's hilarious! I'm going to use that one myself in future!!

Nope, my dd refused her headband with witch's hat on it which was all I was going to try with her so she went as herself. 2 of the kids in her class (same age ish as your lo) couldn't actually sit down to eat their breakfast in their costumes, wasn't much fun for the helpers! Yanbu.
