Something inside my left boob feels sore. I really notice it when I take my bra off in the evening, like a pulling, aching feeling. It's been bothering me for about a month.

I like to sleep on my front, but it's irritating now because when I roll onto my front it feels like when you find yourself lying on a bit of lego or something? Uncomfortable. But there's nothing there. I've had a good squish about, no lumps as far as I can tell (but I have big boobs - bigger than I thought thanks to the bra interventionists!)

Get it checked out. If its nothing then you will be able to stop worrying about it and if its something then it can be treated sooner rather than later.

Most breast problems are not cancer so the odds are in your favour but you won't know for sure checked and if it is breast cancer then the sooner its treated the better.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/10/2013 12:57

know for sure until its checked

Nanny0gg · 28/10/2013 12:58

Go and get it checked out. That's the only way you'll feel reassured.

cantthinkofagoodone · 28/10/2013 13:00

Yes, YABU. Go and get it checked. I'm sure it's nothing but you need to be sure.

pigletmania · 28/10/2013 13:05

I would see the GP pronto, it could be nothing, but get it checked out

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 28/10/2013 13:08

YANBU to hope that, but you know it won't. Likely a harmless cyst or fibrocystic breast syndrome, but please get it checked.

MonstrousPippin · 28/10/2013 13:09

YABU. Even if it's nothing too serious, a mild case of lego boob is enough reason to go to the doctor anyway, before it develops into duplo boob.

But seriously, if something has changed recently and you're feeling uncomfortable, that is the exact time when you should go to the doctor. Otherwise, how long do you leave it? It hasn't gone better on its own after a month so worth a chat with the doc.

letmenamechange · 28/10/2013 13:37

Thank you. I don't have any faith in my GP. He was hopeless with my last two medical issues, and I cured myself via help from the internet (neck and thyroid). But he's been my doctor since I was a teenager and is a family friend. I keep hoping he will retire soon!

ermmmm. just change your gp? ask specifically to see someone else?

SueDoku · 28/10/2013 13:41

Make an appointment with another doctor - as soon as possible..!

pigletmania · 28/10/2013 13:41

Can't you go to a walk in GP or out of hours. You need a professional medical opinion, referral to specialist if needs be

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 28/10/2013 13:45

Yes, go to see someone else.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/10/2013 14:12

Perhaps use the excuse of wanting to see a woman doctor to go and see someone else.

2tiredtoScare · 28/10/2013 14:18

I had exactly the same thing and it turned out to be a pulled muscle but you definitely must get checked

zizza · 28/10/2013 14:42

I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but in our area anything suspicious in the breast area would be referred to the breast clinic at our local hospital who can then investigate. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about but the sooner you go, the sooner you'll know. If you don't feel comfortable asking your gp for a referral, make an appointment with someone else.

Make the appointment today!

Good luck :-)

(I loved the post about Lego boob and Duplo boob!)

bundaberg · 28/10/2013 14:48

yes,.. please get it checked.

and go and see a different gp, you don't have to keep seeing the same one

Beastofburden · 28/10/2013 14:52

Do something about it now.

Understood you have a useless GP, but there will be another one in the same practice, just book to see them.

Most breast lumps are not cancer, and most breast cancer is curable, but the people who leave it for a few months while they dither are the ones who put themselves most at risk.

Sleepyhead33 · 28/10/2013 17:17

Change your GO if you have no faith in your current one and FGS get it checked out. Odds are it will be something harmless but YABU just hoping it will go away.
First thing tomorrow, book an appointment with someone!

jivequeen53 · 28/10/2013 18:47

Please see your GP straight away. I did a self-examination in May and found what just felt like "thick" tissue. I had no pain or any symptoms. I saw my GP a couple of weeks later and was put on the fast track referral to be seen at the hospital within 2 weeks, which I was. After a mammogram and an ultrasound I had a biopsy taken and sure enough I had a cancerous tumour in the breast and also 2 lymph nodes had cancer in them. 2 weeks later I had an op to remove the tumour and 2 nodes and the post op biopsy showed all cancer had been removed. I'm now undergoing chemo and will have radiotherapy when the chemo finishes, this is to prevent the cancer coming back. The sooner you are seen the sooner treatment can be started if needs be.

letmenamechange · 28/10/2013 21:00

Ok, I'll make the appointment tomorrow, IWBU. Thanks for your post jivequeen it really put things in perspective.

thegreylady · 28/10/2013 21:09

I absolutely agree with jivequeen.I have had breast cancer too and it is so treatable if it is caught quickly.Do you have a local 'one stop' clinic where you can get all the teasts and results in one go.See a GP please asap.

jivequeen53 · 28/10/2013 21:49

You're welcome Op. Finger's x'd it will be nothing, but if it is something, it isn't the end of the world if you get treated quickly. Sending best wishes.
