AIBU to secretly hope that the enormous tree

at the bottom of our garden blows over tonight. Obviously only if it can fall and do no damage to either our house or our neighbours and only if no person or animal is hurt. It blocks out most of our sunlight, makes it hard to grow lots of plants and the bottom of the garden is always dank and murky. but it has a tree preservation order on it so we can't do anything. Providing it can meet my conditions of no damage and no injury, AIBU to hope that it will blow over and can be replaced with a nice sapling or three?

Oi! It's flattening my raspberry canes that needed lopping anyway!

AndHarry · 28/10/2013 07:50

I think that's our lot: one bin and a few raspberry canes knocked over. Target remains.

Can't you just... poison the bastard?

ziggiestardust · 28/10/2013 07:57

...arsenic in a watering can?

AndHarry · 28/10/2013 08:01

Target was my car.

Is catneuterer my neighbour? Shock If it's any consolation, we are also hoping the great big conifer in our garden blows over. It would be even better if it squashes our little conservatory, so we can rebuild and extend Grin.

There's a lovely old plane tree lying across a lovely new BMW in my road.

Marrow · 28/10/2013 08:31

Oh dear HeebieJeebie Hmm Where are you?
My tree is still standing. I don't think it has even lost a leaf - there's not a breath of wind here!

My parents had an enormous ash tree in their garden with an order on it.
The trunk went into 3 different gardens (why the stupid house builders decided to put the garden boundries where they did is beyond me) and it was so big I swear you could see it from the moon.
After about 5 years of constant complaints from 5 different houses, and countless times branches have nearly fallen on people my parents were able to hire a tree surgeon to cut it completely down.
Keep making complaints about it if its a potential danger.
