Car parked outside my house is my neighbour being reasonable?

SILs car is parked outside my house and she has taken my children for a walk so isnt here (in front of our gates). The neighbour opposite has just told me that if I allow people to park ever again he will call the police as she is obstructing him. The road is quite wide you can EASILY fit a car past it, he is not obstructed as he has now pulled off his drive and driven off. He has been really nasty ringing the doorbell repeatedly waking the baby etc. I cant decide if I am being unreasonable to think that she is fine there or if he is for being so odd about someone parking on the road opposite his house.

He's being a knob - I parked once in the same situation, came back to a passive-aggressive card on car door telling me I was being inconsiderate and rude. I was so tempted to leave a card in their letterbox stating if they can't drive they should hand in their license.

If the road is wide enough for them to easily get out off their drive and there are no double lines or other reasons why parking there is illegal he can call the police all he wants...

If the car is legally parked he can take a running jump.

On our street, it's narrow, so residents park carefully with general tacit agreement of who parks where on the road.

The way the houses are built, the (small) drives are staggered in such a way that people end up parking opposite one. You just have to be careful in getting out. We drive in and reverse out as the angle is actually better that way for missing our neighbour's car.

It's all about consideration and as this neighbour is hassling the OP, he isn't being considerate.

No you are right anybum and we would if it wasn't such a steep sloping drive (we live on a hill) it's very difficult to strap the kids into their seats with the car pointing sharply downwards iyswim.

Just tell him that, if he keeps harassing you and waking your baby, then you will report him.
