Raw pillow/duvet

Does anyone else have a problem with raw pillows and duvets? DP is such a haphazard sleeper and manages to undress pillows in his sleep and I invariably wake to a face full of bare pillow which just goes straight through me. He thinks I have a rare problem but I'm sure I'm in the majority who can't sleep soundly unless raw pillows/duvets etc are neatly covered up? AIBU to suggest most others would shudder at this too?

And AIBU to expect him to pull the flaps on the pillow slips all the way around the pillow when he changes the sheets rather than just stuffing them in and hoping I won't notice?

Don't even get me started on raw mattress.

All pillows in my house have extra pillow liners underneath. You wouldn't believe how yucky they get (maybe wash every 6-8 weeks) and once you use them you will be a bit Shock when your pillow doesn't have one as they get so sweaty and greasy. And yes always put pillow case on the other way around.

re: Duvet - get one that buttons (rather than poppers) at the bottom, it won't come undone.

re: mattress - can get mattress protectors that go right over mattress (like a pillow case) - we often have a prob with fitted sheets - as I think they shrink!

Urgh! Hate 'raw' pillows too. DH bashes his pillows around so much he ends up splitting them. I do the two pillow cases on with openings at opposite ends.
My other annoying thing is that DH pulls up the duvet by the cover so the filling falls down inside the cover and you have to just get lower and lower in the bed to get warm.

How on earth do you manage to get a decent night's sleep when sharing a bed with someone who fidgets so much?

Pillow covers with zips!

Dunelm mill do some great ones

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and DS still doesn't sleep through the night so I haven't had a decent nights sleep in quite a while.

'Right, so where exactly does one learn how to control their sleeping positions when they are, you know, asleep?'

Cattle prod's always worked for me educating DH Wink

'All my pillows each have a pillow protector and then two pillow cases on them.'

Nice one, someone more anal than my mum is I am Grin

Ooo 38 weeks, you lucky thing, all those newborn cuddles Smile

I always use and under pillow case and a proper pillow case. under pillow case is just a white/old one. I put top case on the other way round so the opening is in the bottom of the top case.

Always use the flap to tuck the pillow in.

The best duvet cover is one with a zip. I have made my own covers a couple of times, and I always use zip by the metre zips and it is so much better than poppers or buttons.

mattress - we have a mattress cover on, (like a giant pillow case) and I was brought up with under sheets (usually warm flannelly ones)
I recently took our mattress cover off to wash. it was truly filthy, hadn't realised til I took it off. If you only have a sheet directly onto mattress it must get very dirty.

Hate it. Even the sight of someone sleeping with a raw duvet on telley. Ive been to many a messy party where dh has passed out on mattress with no cover and regardless of what state im in i cant do it!
