DSD is 13 and has had a rash all over her upper body all week. DH is the nrp and she is due to come to us tomorrow. She has seen her GP and he can't identify what the rash is, but says it doesn't carry any risk for

Argh, posted too soon! What I meant to say is, if the GP says there is no risk to babies with the identified rash, do you think she is ok to come to us? DS is 8 months old and I'm certainly pfb on most subjects that relate to him.

I'm sure she'll be fine to come to you.

At 13 she's old enough to know to be careful about skin to skin contact etc.

most things the rash seems to be the last and least contageous stage.

I remember a child coming to dds party with 'slapped cheek syndrome' and being mortified/ terrified - but then found out it isnt contageous once the rash came out

then I chilled out

if she is ok in herself and the Dr has said its fine I dont think you can really say no without seeming either pfb or wicked sm unfortunatley Sad

If DSD is not actually ILL, I would see no problem. If she lived with you you would not be able to keep her away from DS. she still needs to see her dad even if she has a few spots.

there are lots of very mild virus rashes, it could even be some sort of allergy/skin irritation - the GP does not seem concerned so try not to worry! if she was ill/lethargic/feverish etc that would be different!

Thanks guys, as usual mumsnet is the voice of reason. I look forward to seeing DSD with her rash tomorrow!

If she's well in herself then it's probably a reaction to washing powder or something....

She's fine, but either way, she's your husbands child and she should be welcome in her fathers home whether she's sick or not.
