AIBU to keep my DCs' baby teeth?

Been lurking for many months, but this is my first post, so I'm feeling properly solemn and a little bit scared.

Took DS1 and DS2 for dental checkups today. During pleasantries with the (reasonably hot) dentist, I mentioned that I have kept all DS1's baby teeth. Reasonably hot dentist's reaction: shock, followed by revulsion.

DS2 hasn't lost any baby teeth yet, but I fully intend to keep his as well. Is this wrong? (NB - I didn't hang on to umbilical cord stumps or positive pregnancy tests. Are teeth worse?)

Please keep them in labeled containers. I have friends who found unlabeled envelopes of baby teeth in their late mom's effects, and wondered which teeth had come from each sibling. The same holds true for other mementos.

Mine are labelled, I knows whose they are. DCs will know as well.

I have all ds's and even most of my own. His are far nicer, thanks to modern oral hygiene being so good.

YADNBU OP!

I am massively sentimental about my children's stuff - teeth, umbilical cord clips (with dried up black bits of cord attached Grin ), and I have at least one pg test knocking about (in a bag). I can't bring myself to give/throw away certain items of clothing that I strongly associate with certain points in their life. It's their history, and as a bit of a hoarder anyway, I can't bring myself to part with this stuff. Also, I was fascinated by my baby teeth when my mum gave them to me when I was about 10... ok that sounds weird

...and, coincidentally, DS1 has just presented me with a lovely pre-molar. It's still warm. I just know I'm going to keep it... maybe someone should stage an intervention (or should that be an interDENTion?)

Grin

Sorry.

I am another one who kept the stump of cord. Wish I had asked for the whole thing so that I could have wound it round something to dry. Anyway clothes moths have EATEN it!! Not quite all of it, but a significant amount. I should have kept it in a sealed jar.
mrsdevere- you could have the teeth easily DNA tested, if you want to know which are your dds. I am very sorry that you have lost her Sad.
