Apologies if im repeating a familiar subject but i sort of wanted to join mumsnet just to rant about this and see if other women experience things in the same way as me.
When i was in my 20s i remember that tampons and/or pads did the job. These days (mid 30s, 2 kids), they dont touch the sides...changing 'night time' pads 2,3,4 times a night, wearing super xxx maxi etc. tampon AND pad and STILL leaking, waiting on the loo to pass a clot before even attempting to wipe...
I used to use a mooncup and keep meaning to go back...but honestly? Should that be my only option? Why cant the big brands be arsed to do a bit of r&d and produce a functional product accordingly?
Surely im not the only woman in the market for some decent san-pro?
(and as for those spookily scented ones...yeah, thats just what i want to be jamming up against my privates...)

Expanding lengthways explains why Tampax tend to make me sore - when very wet they get too close to the 'entrance' and feel like they are half way out! Ow! Revelation!

So Lillets expand sideways as well as lengthways ... every day's a school day on MN Grin

Now - can anyone say what the difference is between tenna lady and sanitary pads?

I know that maternity pads are like big matresses (and i find them comforting to wear for some reason. probably 'cos you're sore down there after birth and they're like a cushion) but i don't know the difference between incontinence and sanitary wear.

Incontinence knickers - they are brilliant for the monthlies. Tesco own brand work for me.

I've been taking Agnus Castus as well and after three months it seems to be having an effect.

I don't know about tenna lady but when mine were really heavy in hospital they gave me incontience ones, they hold a litre and half of liquid!

I've never ever seen the outlets orange ones, and been struggling for seven years

Orangeanddemons · 24/10/2013 21:46

I have the same problem on tamoxifen. I have medication to reduce flow which works but still have one really bad day. Have had tv ultrasound and no probs. Really need a much longer night time pad...

I've seen the lil lets super plus extra applicator tampons in home bargains for 99p. Worth a look if you've got one nearby.
I must be the only person who likes scented pads. The perfume is on the adhesive side so doesn't touch your fanjo. The scented tampons on the other hand...do not understand the point of those!

Not heard of the Ultra tampons before, but prepared to try anything. I have a Mirena Coil fitted which made no difference at all, also take mini-pill 3x per day (slight improvement) plus Tranexamic acid when I have my period. I bleed for about 16 days, and even on day 10 or 11 it's still horrendous. I use Lilllets super plus extra, and also wear at least 2 maternity pads during the day, changing everything every hour as I have invariably leaked through the tampon, the clotting is horrible, and I get so ratty with the lack of sleep because I have to get up every two hours to change all the san-pro. I do sleep in a bath towel as well, as have had too many accidents/leaks at night. Why does no-one warn you that it gets like this in your 40s???? And yes, there is a definite gap in the market for better san-pro. The person who designs a tampon or towel which will last me 2 hours and not make me spend half the month worrying about leaving a massive red stain on office furniture will deserve a Nobel prize as far as I am concerned.
