to have a little Morten moment

Kids put to bed, kitchen tidied, laundry sorted, I sat down on the sofa with a nice cuppa to watch Bake Off, and thought to myself "Ooh, I know what I fancy, a little bit of Morten". Maybe it was someone talking about macaroons, I don't know. Anyway it was too easy to fire up YouTube and do a quick search, and there was the Stay on These Roads video.

Oh my eyes, he was lovely.

I've not so much as thought about Mr Harket for years. I'm pushing 40, with two kids, and dh will be home any minute. It is not reasonable behaviour, is it?

nahhh - you can keep him ladies doesn't do it for me am afraid. He reminds me of Patrick Swayzee too and without speaking ill of the dead l never understood all the fuss about him either. Small eyes , too sculpted looking, almost mannequin like.

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2013 21:12

I'm with you Bah PS did nowt for me either. We must be weird. Grin

AnaisHellWitch · 22/10/2013 21:12

I always liked

Much better than Saturday Superstore.

Balloonist · 22/10/2013 21:13

I think he's still very handsome but he is a bit dour. He's not as charismatic as you might think. Maybe because he's been so pretty all his life. I think he is a bit defensive about all the focus on his looks.

Luna13 · 22/10/2013 21:17

Ooooooh Morten Grin add one more fan! YANBU at all! Halloween Wink

Bahhhhhumbug · 22/10/2013 21:19

Never get into bed with a man who is prettier or slimmer than you is my motto Sparkling though these days would have to lower the bar on the latter with mi middle age spread an all Grin

WireCat · 22/10/2013 21:19

He is a flirt!

DontMentionThePrunes · 22/10/2013 21:21

To be fair he was always a bit twatty. Remember when he said he was a virgin and grew orchids?

Needingthework · 22/10/2013 21:23

'Is that somebody screaming, wasn't me for sure' Love, love, love the album Scoundrel Days.

Rhubarbgarden · 22/10/2013 21:24

Get orf my thread, Bah! [rotten tomato]

I went off him a little bit when I read an interview with him in a magazine a few years ago actually. I can't open the BBC clip. Maybe it's just as well.

I still like looking at him though. I could look at him all day

I grow orchids because of that, Prunes. Still.

Oh dear wirecat - he seems to have been morphed into Matthew Kelly!

Maybe the picture is just too small for my aged eyes?

DontMentionThePrunes · 22/10/2013 21:40

Really? That's lovely! I don't think he was a virgin really. I always wondered if he did grow orchids. I mean it's very cold in Norway.

Rhubarbgarden · 22/10/2013 21:44

He must have been the only pop star with a greenhouse.

Special.

Indeed Grin

My dad presented me (in about 1985?) with a Norwegian sweater he'd picked up on his travels some time in the early 70s. I was absolutely delighted. That and a few bootlaces around my wrists. Happy times.

PrimalLass · 22/10/2013 22:23

Oh I loved him. Was devastated (at 12!) to not get tickets for a concert but happened to drive past with my parents the next day when they were leaving their hotel. Got Morten's autograph.

Slainte · 22/10/2013 22:29

I've seen him recently very close up and he hasn't aged very well, I'm sure he thinks the same of me Grin.

Milkjug · 22/10/2013 22:40

Oh, Stanley, how nice to meet someone else who loved Pal! I thought it was only me and my friend Iris in first year of secondary school...

Lyrics are pumping alarmingly into my head.

I can still hear our screams competing
You're hissing your s's like a snake
Now in the mirror stands half a man
I thought no one could break...

Quite demented, when you think of it. Though I admit, I cried at the 'Take On Me' video when Morten got killed by the evil gangster comic villains.

GrendelsMum · 22/10/2013 22:44

It's allright, Rhubarb. I've checked the web, and apparently he genuinely is a keen orchid grower.

GoshAnneGorilla · 22/10/2013 22:50

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful man.

I recently showed DH a clip of A-ha (he grew up in an A-ha-less land) to compare them to One Direction and how crap teen heart throbs are these days, he had to agree that Morten was very good looking indeed.

And that voice! It's astounding that they were seen as a "teen band".

Not only did he go out with the girl from the Take on Me video, but she dumped him for Billy Idol - why?

Morten and Mags in a lift - that's tonight's dreams sorted. Wink

Weasleyismyking · 22/10/2013 22:52

I can't get 'cry wolf' out if my head now. Which wouldn't be so bad if it hadn't morphed into an Alan partridge AHA! between 'cry wolf' and 'time to worry'!

Rhubarbgarden · 22/10/2013 22:56

Phew.

I'm a fan and also recently looked him up. He looks older in the Breakfast video chat from 2012, but compared to the average British man, not so bad!

He has a real epicanthic fold in his eyelids which make his eyes look smaller. Being Norwegian, he quite possibly has Asian ancestry which will help him looking younger even though is eyes look rather small.

Have to say though I wondered from the Breakfast tv video if he had had cheek fillers and Botox - normally faces lose volume as they age, not gain it, and he hasn't put on weight.

SomethingOnce · 23/10/2013 00:40

I too wondered if he'd had his cheeks done...

ddubsgirl · 23/10/2013 00:49

Been married few times and has few kids youngest is only about 4/5 I think
