Grrrgh eating habit of DH!

Ok I want to know if I am being unreasonable...

Getting a bit fed up of the way DH eats as the DC are copying his eating habits and making a mess at mealtimes.

He tend to shovel food in, and in big portions rather than a small reasonable bite size. I have asked him not to do this, as the DC copy him, but he thinks I'm being silly.

His argument is that he is a bloke therefore need to shove bigger portions into his mouth when eating, even though I have pointed out that his mouth is not actually much bigger than mine.

So am I being unreasonable, and does anyone else DH do this?!

No my DH doesn't do this

However since yours does, I'm not sure you can expect him to stop all of a sudden.

The kids may have to learn not to copy.

Tailz · 21/10/2013 18:40

It's not a male thing, its simply bad table manners. Surely he doesn't want your kids to eat messily whilst out in restaurants or at friends houses?

Gross and rather pathetic.

ImAFrequentNameChanger · 21/10/2013 18:40

YANBU I hate bad table manners.

Goldmandra · 21/10/2013 18:40

No but mine mashes his cereal into the milk between every mouthful. The squishy-crunchy noise he makes an average of 8 times per spoonful drives me bonkers.

I know IABU.

Does he automatically cover everything in hot sauce? Even a sandwich? Mine does that. His dad does it too.

BionicEar · 21/10/2013 18:47

Phew I am not alone then!

I have tried to explain, and it is ironic as he is always commenting on DC eating habits and get touchy if I point out they are just copying him.

No he doesn't tend to cover everything in a sauce, but his sandwiches are totally smeared in butter and rammed full of food, too big to eat really in my opinion, but there you go.

Worral it is very hard to stop the kids from copying him. It drives me to despair!

Dh eats really fast and big mouthfuls at a time, then afterwards complains of heartburn and indigestion !

He always eats like he's in a rush, i have to constantly tell him to slow down.

I told him today when he was having his dinner that he reminded me of a hamster when he was eating as his cheeks were bulging ! Haha
