AIBU and fussy or should I say something?

Had a cardiologist appointment the other day and they checked her SATS and weighed her. I've just got the report through the post (which is sent to all her doctors/specialists) and her weight is recorded as 2kg lower than what she was and they've put her SATS at 98% when they were actually 94%.

This may seem petty but she's being monitored as her OHS in June wasn't completely successful so correct me if I'm wrong but writing down her correct SATS is extremely important. I was told for her anything below 96% is concerning?

Will I be acting unreasonably if I ring then up and firstly ask how they could get it so wrong and secondly to re-write the report and send it again?

Sorry should have re-read... I'm talking about my DD who is 13 months old!

I'd make a call. Could they have their figures mixed up?

LookingThroughTheFog · 21/10/2013 12:10

No, not fussy - it may be their error which needs correcting, it may be something that needs to be explained to you. Either way, you have to talk to them.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 21/10/2013 12:15

Just wondering, cardiac patients can have lower sats as their normal, is this the case with your DD? For example I have had patients where their sats don't go above 92%, but for them that's fine. Are they wanting higher sats?

If they've incorrectly written something down then yes I would say something.

This is one if those 101 occasions when it would be brilliant if you could Email medics. You will have to spend ages on the phone with a 70/30 chance the mistake won't be rectified until you point it out at your next appointment anyway.

I had a week of ringing the surgery and waiting to be called back and still have another call to make.

Similar problems in business or with school would have taken two emails max.

yummum19 · 21/10/2013 12:23

That was the case before her surgery but she's always been 98-99% since so am quite worried

Ime reports always have something wrong on the figures. They usually have it right on the actual notes.
Dd2 was 182cm at age 5yo according to one we had. They checked notes: 117cm was much more likely. Someone else types it up often, and they don't seem to have a head for figures!

A lot of hospitals have consultants' email addresses on the website. If not their secretary will usually give you an email address you can use.

The letter should be changed if it's inaccurate, but most of all you need to be reassured that the sats level was okay.

Choccybaby · 21/10/2013 15:28

Sorry, meant to say it's definitely not U to call the secretary and ask to speak to the consultant if you're worried and prefer that to email
