AIBU to think this should not be allowed?

I have just seen on Facebook a post on a local selling site

"Wanted. Air rifle/Pistol/Crossbow"
The post is from someone who has their name set to "itemsforsale" making them effectively anonymous. In a comment underneath someone has offered a crossbow with bolts and bag.

How on earth is this allowed? How is that anyone (no matter their age or intent) can buy a weapon in this way?

(not even going to mention how outrageous it is that this is seen as ok and yet a photo of a lady breastfeeding would be removed for nudity)

Humph.

Report it, although not sure what they can do.
I agree it's very wrong

This is the thing, I clicked the button to report it but it doesn't come under any of the headings

Report it.

Also you are allowed BFing pictures on Facebook, it's only the ones where the baby has come off the breast so that's not a breast feeding pic.

If it's not illegal to own one, and I'm pretty sure it's not, then I don't really see what the problem is. Someone purchasing a crossbow with cash would be just as anonymous, so as long as the seller checks that the buyer is over 18 then I don't think they have broken any laws.

is there a way you could have put more in the title of your OP? I have no idea on this issue and its just a waste of people's time to ask such an open question.

They are age restricted but legal to own so I doubt Facebook will do anything. I bought my crossbow second hand and showed my id, as far as I know providing you satisfy yourself that the person you are selling to is over 18 it is perfectly legal. With a Facebook site (and the size of a crossbow) you'd certainly meet to complete the transaction.

Most crossbow and air gun owners have them for sport not to use as weapons.

It don't look like they are breaking any laws.
