to boycot (and want other to), my local soft play?

One of those big, industrial, play barns. For kids. Sells cans of lager.

Is it OTT of me to be Shock at the adults sat round drinking cans of lager bought at the food counter?

More seriously- is it a problem? Are parents just having one or two or are people commonly falling over drunk? I presume you can only buy them with food?

Play barns are the 8th circle of hell, as are a plethora of bloody other people's rug rats.

If a lager is what gets you through it ? So bloody what?

My first instinct was 'urgh' but then a lot of 'family' pubs have a child's play area so it's not that odd really.

Near me there is a soft play that is in a pub/restaurant. Alcohol is served there. Seems quite OK to me. Just because alcohol is served doesn't mean people will get drunk and be irresponsible. Maybe the alcohol makes soft play more bearable for the parents?

YANBU lager is no where near enough to survive those hell holes, boycott them until they agree to serve hard liquor.

I assume they have a liquor license. Well, I was there aroubd 1.5hrs and saw a few drinking and buying from the counter, however I didnt count how many each were having Grin

Tee my problem is that it is a childrens playbarn (as opposed to a pub with a little soft play attached) and (1) I wouldnt have thought it a suitable place to grant a license (2) this is happening in the middle of the day (3) the soft play is rather remote with crap.public transport and most people drive - however I have no idea if the drinkers I saw then drove.

Do they sell gin? I can see the attraction in gin. I would happily leave the car at home if I could have a Gordon's to get me through the hell of an afternoon at a play barn.

No different from pubs with soft play. (One of the worst Sunday afternoons of my life was spent at one of those).

When i was a teenager there was a softplay centre and it had a licensed bar. They held adults only events at night where you could get pissed and go on the softplay. Its the one and only time i've ever gone on one of those vertical drop slides.

One of our local ones sells wine and beer. I think it's wonderful.

Hmm, my first reaction is I agree with you, but then I remember in France this year having a can of lager in a Mcdonalds with a massive play area and rather enjoying it. And I have also been to pubs with a play area in the beer garden and had a half a lager while the kids play.

If it's cans of special brew yanbu- if it's those little (coke can size) cand of weak lager then yabu, as long as people aren't steaming drunk.

It just sits odd with me that this is a place designed for kids and yet it sells beer. Odd. Like having a bar in a library or the staff room.

Presumably there are adults there who aren't driving? You can boycott the place if you wish but YABU to want other people to follow your lead.

I'm with you Mortified.

Drink with lunch at a pub is understandable, however I personally would wonder at drinks in a play barn. It's not like you can sit and enjoy it like a glass of wine over a meal with nice people. It's just alcohol in a warehouse full of slides and children. Where's the enjoyment there?

Plus larger?! Scared of flavour. Real ale all the way.

I think a bar in a library sounds perfectly reasonable. Cafe bars attached to libraries and bookshops are not uncommon on the continent.

All those Wacky Warehouse hell holes are attached to pubs, aren't they? It's not unusual at all. The one I had the misfortune to attend ds2's friends birthday party at sold beer in plastic pint glasses in the pub, in case you wanted to join your kids in the soft play bit Hmm
