Me too. Bath tonight though which I hate.

I feel you. I have 2 - one is 2.5, the other 15 months. I love them wholeheartedly but sometimes I long for the peace and quiet (and G&T) after bedtime.

I tiptoe into their rooms while they're sleeping and fill up with love for them. It's hard though. I work PT in a demanding job and the children take every other bit of me. Sometimes I feel like there's nothing left.

put the clocks 15 minutes forward, record cbeebies bedtime bit and start it early.....

theignored · 20/10/2013 18:27

nice tip greenfolder!
All in bed now, (my patience ran out) skipped the bath for the older two. Just the baby to settle now.
It's especially awful when dh is on lates and I have to do it all on my own, then you come downstairs to a shit hole of toys, biscuits that have been mashed into the carpet and the tea plates still on the table. Sigh, and it all starts again tomorrow!

Me to, I have a 3.5 year old who is autistic and an eight months old baby, I am on my own with them from 7.30am most days and it feels like a very long day especially on weekends when my older son doesn't have preschool.
They seem to have opposite needs all the time there is not much I can do with both of them, due to my older son I can't go out anywhere on public transport and I don't drive. I also can't feed or change my younger son while out with both of them as my older one would run. So it is short trips to the local park only.
They are in bed now though, the house is trashed and I really should be tidying up. I am just enjoying a few minutes peace before I get started.
They are lovely and very worth it, I just can't wait till they are a bit older and a bit easier.

Just as well DD2 can't tell the time! She goes up whenever she seems desperately tired I have had enough, last week that happened at about 16.50! Wink

Aniseeda · 20/10/2013 18:57

This just reminded me of feeling like I was in some awful groundhog day scenario where every day was spent just trying to tire them out enough so that they would go to bed and sleep for a reasonable time!

It does get easier. Loads. not sure how helpful I found that thought when I was in the thick of it all though!

TheGhostofAmandaClarke · 20/10/2013 19:26

Mine are asleep on my bed after story time. I could just eat them. They are the scrummiest things ever.
But omg am I tired.
theignored so true about dreading the mess downstairs. If I could just fall asleep with them now and wake up tomorrow to a tidy house my life would be perfect.

spritesoright · 20/10/2013 19:30

YY snowhoho, I can't wait to get DD to bed but miss her when she's asleep and always sneak in to watch her sleep before I go to bed. Currently doing bath time so 30 mins til bed!
