Do I take the dog to the vets....

Erm. Trying not to panic here....

Ok... DS has a playmobil castle, it has these little flame like "torches" that slot in all over the exterior. They are about 2.5 inches long, brown plastic stick with a rubber flame as the tip. Last night I noticed 3 were missing from the front. DS denied all knowledge of where they were. Another was gone prior to school this morning. I've just walked in to the room and seen the dog chomping down another one, so I presume this is where the first four have met their peril. So I now have a small dog (hairless Chinese crested) with around 5 playmobil torches in his tum. He's eating and been to the loo fine about an hour ago. Seems ok and happy. Do you think these will pass/dissolve in his thieving tum? Or do I need to be hauling him to the vets?

TIA

Not sure they'll dissolve but I'd opt for a cautious "watch and wait" approach. If they haven't appeared in a couple of days, get him to the vet. Of course, if he starts to be ill, take him straightaway.

I think I'd go with the 'watch and wait' for now myself. See what appears in 24 hours unless as Maid says he becomes ill in the meantime.

The only danger with this approach is if you do need to take him its a weekend and you are then into emergency vet fees.

they won't dissolve in his tummy, he will hopefully poo them out though.

i would ring the vet tbh, if they are hard plastic and have pointy ends then i am guessing they have potential to damage his insides :(

KringleCandleLover · 18/10/2013 12:22

I too would worry about his insides. You don't want anything to be pierced by the foreign object. If he was a bigger breed I'd maybe wait. Though saying that my sis TT has just poo'd out a barbie hand. Eww

SugarHut · 20/10/2013 14:32

He's fine :) Pooped it all out!

I was coming on to say wait and see - but I see I am too late.

We had an emergency vet visit last weekend, when ddog2 threw up repeatedly through the evening and into the next morning, and was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction, caused by a bottle cap,she had eaten. She had to have surgery, and stayed in at the vet's until Monday afternoon.

Will ds be getting his playmobil back? Grin
