Turned down at hair salon...

So I was walking in my high street today when I saw the 'looking for models' sign on a hair salon window.

Went in and asked for info and the receptionist asked me if I was ME who wanted to be the 'model'.

So she got one of her colleagues (I think he was a hairdresser) he looked at me, and he said something to her that I didn't understand.
So she came back to me and said that: the hairdressers working with the models would be trainees therefore they needed a 'easier' hair to work with.

I totally get that and said: it is fine, I know my hair is difficult...

But, don't do they want the trainees to learn??

I am not upset or anything but next time I am looking for a hair salon as a payer costumer I am certainly not going there.

This would be my [https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=curly+frizzy+hair&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=hBJhUrKuNfOY0AW26oHwDg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=738&dpr=1#facrc=&imgdii=&imgrc=GKTQJ7vhTEA-IM%3A%3BAQdDI4IhpzNmNM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.dkimages.com%252Fdiscover%252Fpreviews%252F1245%252F45056246.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fredsea1.forumchitchat.com%252Fpost%252Fcurly-frizzy-hair-931999%3B655%3B768 hair on a bad day]

I just don't know....
I come from a counter where a lot of people have curly and/or fizzy hair and they spend fortunes trying to change their hair, so I'm used to negative comments about my hair from family and friends, specially now that I just have it natural.
Maybe what bothered me was the way they treated me, even though they weren't rude or anything...I just don't think they saw me as a desirable or potential customer...I might be too sensitive or overthinking it btw.

I would have thought straight hair was difficult as it really shows if you haven't cut it properly.

DD2 had her hair badly cut by another child and it would have looked much worse if her curls didn't hide it.

I think it is better that the build up their confidence gradually rather than trying to do something they can't. It also depend where they are in their training.

i have been asked by my hairdresser to be a model for apprenticies which I will do happily as long as the hairdresser believes they are at the right point to do it!

Just out of curiosity, for the posters who say they have hair similar to mine: what is the length and cut of your hair? There isn't much we can do regarding style isn't it? My hair is constantly on pony tail otherwise gets too wild, specially on windy or rainy days...Only when is fresh washed and I want to look extra good than I might let my hair down...but it always ends up on a pony tail sooner or later due to habit...
