To really want to be the subject of an AIBU?

I have found myself clicking on threads where the OP is asking if their friend/ acquaintance/ sister is BU and secretly hoping I will be the one they are talking about. The thought of someone being rattled by me and I just dilly dally along being clueless and not realising really appeals.I think I must be a bit bored.

You'd get a measure of how a majority judge you AND get a RL view into the rabbit hole. AIBU? Has anyone recognised themselves or their actions in AIBU?

Have often wondered this...

FourEyesGood · 15/10/2013 21:16

Every time a thread on AIBU is called something like "To be pissed off with this comment from DS's teacher?", I open it with trepidation, worried that it's me. Grin

pianodoodle · 15/10/2013 21:18

I've had the odd scout on Gransnet to see whether I'm the subject of any bad DIL threads Grin

ConfusedandDazed24 · 15/10/2013 21:18

What would you do though OP?! I like I think I'd read it and store the information for later use, or change my words or actions according to the outcome. However I suspect I'd go batshit crazy and post repeatedly until I ended up being banned.

WestmorlandSausage · 15/10/2013 21:19

Its probably my worst nightmare.

But someone has posted a thread tonight that I actually could have written myself. The circumstances and details are all exactly the same its actually freaking me out a lot. I'm starting to suspect myself of sleep mumsnetting.

KirjavaTheCorpse · 15/10/2013 21:21

It's happened a few times before hasn't it? Where someone's recognised someone else because their AIBU was about them. I think one of the first threads I ever read on mumsnet was one of those. Was awfully dramatic.

Passmethecrisps · 15/10/2013 21:22

Me too foureyes! I look between my fingers

gertrudetrain · 15/10/2013 21:22

I think I'd REALLY enjoy playing the 'I know you, I know you know me, I know this is about me.' I might try to try mess with whoever posted about me (for 5 mins) but then I'd have to just blurt out that they are posting about me. I couldn't help it.

Could imagine the banning scenario orange Grin

I really want someone to find one of my shopping lists, post it on here then analyse me. I'm always tempted to leave one behind in a shopping trolley but then I feel guilty about littering.

Salmotrutta · 15/10/2013 21:23

I work on the principle that, statistically speaking, it's highly unlikely that I'd be the subject of an AIBU.

If i was though I wonder what it would be about?

"AIBU to think that my colleague is an argumentative caah who just disagrees with me because she can??" Wink - I actually do that.

Disagree with people purely because they irritate me - not necessarily because I actually disagree with them Blush

StanleyLambchop · 15/10/2013 21:24

I always wonder when I first see a thread starting with 'or was this woman totally bonkers??' Only a part of me is relieved when it turns out not to be about any of my bonkers antics! One day maybe!

gertrudetrain · 15/10/2013 21:25

I'm ALWAYS thinking the SIL threads are me (I have an eclectic bunch of SIL) and sometimes my heart skips a beat when a man posts an AIBU about his wife.

(NOT in a good way, in a shit what have I done way!)

gertrudetrain · 15/10/2013 21:27

Salmo unfortunately I have this trait too Blush my boss called me adversarial in my appraisal so I argued back that I am not.

I left a shopping list in a basket the other day with my Gary Barlow presale code at the top and then list below. Was hoping someone would think it was a secret code they needed to crack! I'd already used the code so no good to steal Grin

Salmotrutta · 15/10/2013 21:34

Yay to "adversarial" - that's me with people who grind my gears!

I can't stop myself - it's like a little devil on my shoulder Blush

Salmotrutta · 15/10/2013 21:34

YY - not "yay" Hmm

gertrudetrain · 15/10/2013 21:36

Defiantly not 'yay' that will be going on the phrases I hate thread...

I've looked to see if i can see one about me written by a former friend. She was always opening into forums when i never used to be and i pissed her off big time! Not that she was justified in being pissed off but because of her weird view of things type pissed off.

Can't find one though [drums fingers]
